The rabbi said they were friends to the Jewish people not Israel. If you don’t understand the difference that’s a problem. What if the Pope said those men were friendly to Catholics? Would one presume he was referring to Poland or Italy?

Mehdi- he left a trail of comments that show him to be tone deaf to the fears Jews have about how their ties to Israel are perceived. Just as only an African American person knows what comes off as racist. That said, it’s commendable so many Jewish New Yorkers were willing to extend him grace.

They spent months and months insisting he was an antisemite, with zero evidence, and then he chooses to get sworn in as mayor by America’s most famous and beloved Jewish politician.
