If you removed all the agriculture, would the water use be sustainable? Genuine question.

Jacob Webb, welcome to Life After Cars.
I literally said "alfalfa fields" elsewhere in the thread.
And golf courses are (a) not a residential use and (b) frankly obscene under all circumstances but especially in the desert, a hill I will happily die on.
I'm pretty sure that pre-Columbian people were a lot better stewards of their water resources than contemporary corporate cities?! WTF.
"Collections of thousands of people using water like it's infinite"
Should have just said "convention centers"
Oh FFS, it's perfectly clear what I meant
And that long hot shower is gonna have to be with recycled water and a high efficiency showerhead.
Three of the four things enumerated in the skeet are in fact not compatible with sustainable human existence in the desert southwest. Not having golf courses, lawns, or municipal fountains in the desert =/= a medieval standard of living. It's just basic common sense.

Yeah the Diné definitely had golf courses and ballparks and alfalfa fields
They may be inseparable
IEA graph of global electricity production, showing that renewables outstripped coal in 2024 and are continuing to rise.
Apparently he's already dead. Because the yellow line on this graph is not going below the blue one ever again.
Same, at least when I'm flying out of YUL, which is a remarkably small and homey airport for a metropolis of two million, and with which I have become extremely familiar in eight years here.
Heathrow? Three.
Humanity is a rich tapestry. Being in a duty-free shop makes me crawl out of my skin. Can't get out of there fast enough.

Like, is it the food of my hometown? My family of origin? One of the half dozen ethnic groups with which I can claim affiliation? My current location? Each of those has a different answer. (The last one is easiest. I'm not a huge fan of Québécois food.)
still can’t believe that given the choice between “bountiful, free, clean energy from the earth, wind, and sun” and “poisonous dead animal sludge price sensitive to global politics” we keep choosing the latter
As an introvert without social anxiety, this also ain't it. Also, I'm secure enough to admit that I do in fact enjoy engagement on social media.
Yeah the whole thing is just panic at the presence of a (real or imagined) penis.
The first problem with trying to respond to this is defining "my" cuisine

This is my favourite graphic.
It's incredible how far DAYTIME solar has already come with almost no batteries.
Just think how this will change with batteries, when instead of daytime solar, we get DISPATCHABLE solar.
The solar boom is only just starting...
But apparently Alberta is joining BC in going to year round DST. Guess I won't visit either province between November and March until they reverse that decision (also taking bets on how long it will take them to realize how catastrophic it is)
This is the correct take
YES MORE OF THIS PLEASE
