Craig Albernaz told Gunnar Henderson after he was picked off first twice in the Orioles' win: "He reached his pickoff quota for the year in one game, so let's make an adjustment, please, and not get picked off."

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz spoke highly of Samuel Basallo's game. Of course, the two RBI hits, but his defensive work at catcher, too.
Albernaz: "I told him after the game, ‘Now, that’s the standard you set. I’m holding you accountable to it, now. I expect it every game.'"
yeah, the orioles won, 7-5. that was something
Nick Loftin hits a bases-clearing double against Cameron Foster and the Orioles. There are no outs in the 12th. Baltimore leads KC, 7-5
Leody Taveras hits a grand slam in the 12th. The Orioles suddenly have a 7-2 lead over the Royals
Samuel Basallo does it again. He reaches out to drive an RBI single to left. This gives the Orioles a 3-2 lead in the 12th
1-2 count, all pitches out of the zone to that point, Anthony Nunez surely missed his spot and threw Witt a strike. Worst case, first base open for a walk. Instead, Witt does Witt things and ties it
The Royals and Orioles are tied again, 2-2, after Bobby Witt Jr.'s two-out single against Anthony Nunez in the 11th
Dylan Beavers with an RBI single to right field with two outs in the 11th. He gives Baltimore a 2-1 lead over Kansas City
The Orioles receive an assist there on a play that might've gone horribly wrong. Lane Thomas saw a throw from Leody Taveras in center skip away from third baseman Weston Wilson. Thomas tried to take third, but he's tagged out because Gunnar Henderson hustled to cover third
The Orioles have struck out 11 times or more in four straight games, which is their longest such streak since doing that in six straight games in 2021. Thanks, Stathead, for search
The Orioles are going to extras against the Royals. Ryan Helsley pitched a scoreless ninth
The Royals asked for this. They stranded 13 runners on base through eight innings. The Orioles were 0-for-23 since Taylor Ward's double in the first inning, and yet Samuel Basallo ties it with a knock
Orioles have their first hit since the first inning, and it's a game-tying single from Samuel Basallo against Lucas Erceg.
The call stands. Gunnar Henderson was picked off first base in the first and ninth innings - bookend moments that encapsulate a dreadful offensive night
Gunnar Henderson has been picked off first base for the second time this game, although this is going to review. He walked to lead off the ninth
The Orioles' pitching staff has allowed one run and stranded 13 baserunners.
The last time they did that: 4/23/23 vs. Detroit.
The last time they did that in a nine-inning game: 8/27/17 vs. Boston.
The difference, so far, is they won those two games. The Orioles are losing 1-0
The Orioles are hitless over their last seven innings. They haven't recorded a knock since Taylor Ward's double in the first.
They trail the Royals, 1-0, midway through the eighth
While we wait to see if the Orioles will manage their first hit since the first inning, here’s a great Band of Horses song open.spotify.com/track/61beXN...
Kyle Bradish had to grind through this. He allowed 10 hits (his most since 2022) with 3 walks through 5 1/3 innings.
But Bradish struck out seven and allowed just one run. He stranded the bases loaded twice, and Rico Garcia did so again in relief in the sixth.
Royals up, 1-0
rico garcia
It looks like an eye situation for Kyle Bradish, which prompts a visit in the sixth inning. He rubbed it and received an eye drop from a trainer. But he's OK to continue
I'm missing Kevin Brown references to Jason Isbell? I may not recover
haha true
Kyle Bradish strands the bases loaded again. He gets the force out at home before striking out Jac Caglianone and Isaac Collins.
Bradish has done very well to limit damage, but his pitch count has reached 68 through 3
maybe i'm washed tbh, hard to tell
i watch masn+ through mlb . tv, so i think that's my problem
The Royals have loaded the bases for the second time in three innings through a leadoff walk and two singles. Kyle Bradish gets an out at the plate on a comebacker for the first out.
A lot of traffic against Bradish so far, and another high-stress inning
look at this. legend. thanks
