If the story were told in a mostly linear manner, the book would be much messier (if not impossible to pull off) and less interesting.

Also “the disjointed timeline” was simply non-linear storytelling. But “simply” wouldn’t be the right word because the author constructed the narrative this way intentionally, and it turned out nicely.

People are just wired differently. I started the book in January and finished it in March, having read at least six other books in between, and I had no trouble following the story.
