But Weir sounds like the most uninteresting kind of writers in the world, and I’m determined to avoid those boring people in my life. (Especially since Normal People and Hamnet have already taken up two slots in my boring quota for the year)

I generally have little interest in the person behind the art, except when I need context to interpret their work. Unless the artist is actively harming people, I usually don’t care much about what they say or do.

So dumb that I decided to cancel my plan to see PHM. I have better uses of my money and time.

This isn’t children’s fiction, I’m afraid you picked up the wrong book

If the story were told in a mostly linear manner, the book would be much messier (if not impossible to pull off) and less interesting.

Also “the disjointed timeline” was simply non-linear storytelling. But “simply” wouldn’t be the right word because the author constructed the narrative this way intentionally, and it turned out nicely.

People are just wired differently. I started the book in January and finished it in March, having read at least six other books in between, and I had no trouble following the story.

So on the nose that it almost comes across as self-parody

Honestly, much better to be a little rough around the edges and full of life than technically okay but dead on the page.

Much deserved. Among other things the cinematography of Sinners was dope

How do I get bluesky’s algo to understand that I like puppies, not puppies

Making ppl pay for this kind of advice should be illegal.
(Got a bit nostalgic when I saw Carreyrou’s name. Read his book in 2019 when scammers were still getting caught and sent to jail (& couldn’t bribe their way to a pardon). You do the crime, you do the time. At least sometimes. Good old times.

Your daily dose of capitalist horror stories. AI’s just a tool through which some people get creative in exploiting others’ work and fulfilling their bottomless greed
