Not saying things like war and AI and inflation aren't really important, but...
Our civilisation-sustaining habitat is at risk of collapse, and every kilogram of carbon we choose to add to the atmosphere makes that collapse more likely

I know T is president but he’s just a perverted little do anything criminal raised up to some grand theory of personality because of his audacity that people find so compelling. Never seen so much written and published about a piece of poo who knows us better than we know ourselves apparently
Why do people who associated with Stein get away with it still..
MPs are not voting machines.
When they cross the floor, or resign from cabinet, or vote against party lines, they are representing constituents and providing a vital check on leadership.
Party leaders are powerful enough as it is. Taking such tools away reduces accountability between elections.

I don’t get how the pope is always made out to be some hero when the church has some of the worst crimes to atone for against women and children ongoing. youtu.be/Hr2S-InN0q0?...
Except to me this trajectory of the right came directly from Reagan and Thatcher and Russia was still closed back then… Reagan was a racist who deregulated and Russia became a chaos oligarchy as the USA is now being looted by the exact same people who are no longer hiding who they are. Canada too.
A crucial article, but one quibble. I've been arguing since 1997 that Frank Furedi, Claire Fox and the rest of the gruesome "Revolutionary Communist Party" goons were NEVER on the left: the RCP was a far-right front from the outset. No surprise when they started working for Orbán, Farage & Johnson🧵
Trump: 51st state 51st state 51st state governor governor governor tariffs fentanyl Carney blow up NAFTA blow up USMCA blow up bridge 51st state

It's not just that Orbán losing inspires hope in other competitive-autocratic countries ruled by right-wing nationalist authoritarians. It's that his loss materially changes things in those other countries, because he's been operating as a headquarters and funding source...
Vance, Trump, Putin and Netanyahu all support Orbán, which is all the evidence you need that he is way behind in the polls (which as a matter of fact he is) and running a wild campaign of lies (which as a matter of fact he is).
Harper showed us who he is many times over. If he’s softening now it’s because he’s an oblique player.
So nice Orban lost and our old PM Harper who helped get him into office can eat poops 💩 forever
more seriously congrats to the hungarian people for kicking that asshole out
I too have written about white conservatives in southern state legislatures rushing through bullshit changes to the law just to thwart the advancement of literally one black man, but I'm a historian who writes about the Jim Crow era South and not a reporter discussing current fucking events there.
Anti-Orban concert in Hungary with the audience chanting “Russians, go home”
I guess the CBC decided the war wasn’t interesting anymore they ain’t reporting today online or radio that’s just wierd
We have all the journalists bombs already I thought it would be a more material bomb
Not the cbc either … feels like a betrayal tbh they refuse to name what we’re dealing with they simply omit so much
Iran is abiding by the ceasefire. Israel is not. This is a simple headline which can be found readily in reporting around the world—but not in the United States.
The war, horrible as it is in itself, signals the basic problem: abuse of power enabled by wealth inequality and media monopolies. Trump will fall and these issues can be addressed. But only if we see how deep is the rot and how pressing is the need. (13/14)
3/3. No matter what else is going on, the one predictable thing about any Trump policy is that he will find a way to prop up Putin and his fascist regime.
1/5. Orbán pioneered a model whereby oligarchs trade the fascist memes and electoral tricks they use to stay in power. He made Budapest a node between Moscow and Washington of the international far right.
La Dolce Vida was same for me … a few others The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and The 400 Blows … The Sacrifice, The 49th Parallel, The Tenant..and Year One 😂
So I guess if the Pope crossed the floor the NDP would be disgusted. Gandu seems extraordinarily average maybe just go out and talk to some people ? that the left pretends it’s so good is hypocrisy Especially in politics the NDP is just as cutthroat and morally diverse as the libs if not more.
Ok I’m not the only one who think this …
Doesn’t this mean somethings gonna land soon? Why else would
I wish people would talk more about how we make the changes we need rather than acting like they have new better ideas. They’ve always been there but humans stink and fight against them
In theory America was evolved to avoid this exact thing based on checks and balances that have been undone over the last decades at the same time ecological protections were removed and we learned the lesson in the last century wars too but it’s a never ending battle to change structures. How?
