Unserious conspiracy theories and wellness influencers aren't going to stop Black women from dying during pregnancy.
We need serious policies and real solutions.

Children’s futures shouldn’t depend on their zip code or the means they come from.
I cosponsored the Head Start for America's Children Act to finally pay our educators a living wage and give kids and families the care they deserve.

To round out Black Maternal Health Week, I had the opportunity to ask HHS Secretary RFK Jr. straight up what he's doing to ensure Black women don't die during childbirth.
He didn't have much of an answer.

Congratulations to the @atucomms.bsky.social and ATU Local 85 for an incredible first conference here in Western PA!
I'm proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the workers who keep our communities moving every single day in the fight for real investments, protections, & the respect they deserve.
Secretary Kennedy, this you?

Ticketmaster and Live Nation have abused their power for years, exploiting musicians, fans, and the industry as a whole so they can make a profit.
This is a huge win for music-lovers, artists, and everyone in the fight against corruption and corporate greed.

The Revitalizing America’s Schoolyards Act is about investing in our kids’ health and futures by transforming these spaces into green, vibrant environments. (2/2)
White and gold text reads "Introducing the Revitalizing America's Schoolyards Act to transform schoolyards into vibrant, nature-rich spaces for learning, play, and community use."
White and gold text on a black background reads "Here's the issue: Outdoor spaces where kids can learn, play, and grow are essential. But for many kids, the closest outdoor space is a bare asphalt schoolyard — offering little opportunity for safe play, shade, or connection to nature. They don’t have green space or grassy areas available in their schools." Below is a photo of a schoolyard with gardens.
White and gold text on a black background reads "That's why we introduced the revitalizing america's schoolyards act. It will provide grants to schools and districts to transform their schoolyards into dynamic outdoor learning environments, giving students greener spaces to garden, conduct outdoor science experiments, connect with nature, and more. By establishing a grant program to support the transformation of schoolyards and prioritizing communities with the greatest need, this proposal will boost kids’ physical and mental health, help schools grow healthy foods, and support conservation efforts and climate resilience while giving kids a safe place to play." To the right is a photo of Rep. Lee hugging a student.
White text on a black background displays a quote from Rep. Lee that reads "Every child deserves access to nature and safe, inspiring spaces, no matter their zip code."
Growing up in the Mon Valley, I’ve seen how our environments shape what our children believe is possible and for too many students, especially in under-resourced communities, schoolyards are just concrete and heat, not places that invite curiosity, creativity, or connection. (1/2)
How do we get universal healthcare, childcare, good schools and more?
We fairly tax the rich.
Last year, I worked with @patrioticmillionaires.org to introduce the OLIGARCH Act to put the brakes on the cycle of obscene wealth and put economic power back in the hands of the people.
I'm proud to join the Congressional Mamas’ Caucus this Black Maternal Health Week to demand that we act now to address the maternal health crisis and uplift the stories of the lives we've lost. (2/2)
A painted portrait of a Black woman who died from pregnancy complications.
Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes. In Allegheny County, they face some of the highest pregnancy-related mortality rates in the country. That devastating reality is unacceptable. (1/2)
Salah Sarsour, a beloved community leader and Palestinian refugee in Milwaukee, was targeted for his activism against the genocide and illegally abducted by ICE.
Salah is a legal permanent resident and should be home with his mother, wife, and six children. Free Salah Sarsour.
Pam Bondi is once again defying a legally binding subpoena.
I moved to hold her in contempt before; there’s no reason we cannot try again.
Bondi must be held accountable for her handling of the Epstein files, for weaponizing the Department of Justice, and for evading the law.
Today on Yom HaShoah, we honor & remember the millions of people senselessly murdered in the Holocaust.
Let's honor their memory by carrying forward our work to fight antisemitism, white supremacy, & hatred in all forms.
In the wealthiest nation on Earth, no one should be forced to choose between paying their rent and getting care. We have to not only fix our broken system, but pass Medicare for All.
130,000 Pennsylvanians dropped their healthcare coverage because costs are too high. Let's not forget Republicans and the Trump admin gutted Medicaid last summer and refused to extend ACA subsidies.

Swipe to see what I was up to in Western PA this week!
From honoring the legacy of Roberto Clemente to supporting Head Start, expanding mental health resources, and investing in spaces like the Carrie Furnaces, we are going to keep showing up and supporting the work that strengthens our community.
There's already precedent for former officials to be subpoenaed and testify before the Oversight Committee. Pam Bondi is no exception.
She must be held accountable for her handling of the Epstein files.
Grateful to be in community with the folks doing this work every day. I will keep fighting together to make sure every child and every family gets the support they deserve. (3/3)
It's why I introduced the Head Start for America’s Children Act to expand access and strengthen support for these programs that give kids, families, and educators the resources they need to succeed. (2/3)

Today, I joined early childhood educators, providers, and advocates for a roundtable to discuss what it will take to strengthen and expand Head Start in our communities. Head Start is one of the most powerful investments we can make in our communities. (1/3)
Hey Chair Comer, now that Melania is calling for a hearing with survivors, can we finally have one? We've been trying for months.
The survivors deserve better.
We're not going to ignore what we see with our own eyes.
And we will not allow the wealthy and powerful to gaslight and lie to us while they try and get away with their crimes.
Yeah, this ain't it.
This is their playbook––Republicans will drag their feet like they have with everything else to enable perpetrators to escape accountability.
I filed an amendment to hold Bondi in contempt once before. Accountability is a nonnegotiable.
Speaker Johnson, instead of letting Congress sit back and watch our President threaten genocide, bring us back into session.
Only the Cabinet can invoke the 25th, but we can and should be voting on a War Powers resolution to put a stop to his war crimes right now.
This is sick and twisted from anyone, much less the president of the United States.
Trump’s genocidal language and indiscriminate warfare cannot be normalized or accepted. He should be removed from office.
For those keeping track, Pam Bondi is about to be out of compliance with not one but two lawful subpoenas if she fails to show up for a sworn deposition next week.
Even after being fired, she's still legally obligated to show up. So we'll see her soon.
