i would argue it's acceptable in Zootopia only because the main characters are cops investigating crimes and shit and there's bound to be twists given the nature of the genre it parodies

the problem is that it's shoved into every new movie despite how ill-fitting it is for some of these stories

I think what’s so awful is that it’s either this or Rain Man, and for a movie that was so critically and commercially acclaimed for its time it REALLY doesn’t get enough shit for how much the story sucks if actually think about it for like 5 seconds lol
