A paste-up with the slogan: “you’re never too old to punch naz!s”. It has an illustration of an elderly person serving a skinhead with an uppercut that’s lifted them bodily from the ground.

A vine whose leaves are wet with rain, and are a range of colours from green, through yellow, into a lovely coral red. You get the sense that they will go redder and more yellow over time.

Vic could steal anyone’s spouse and the only reasonable response would be to accept it and wish them all the best.

It’s kind of great to meet someone you admire and find them to be as excellent as you’d hoped they’d be

I have a couple of high school level text books, a Latin dictionary, and I’m doing exercises and translations at my own pace. I get a lot more out of that than the app.

I’ll just say upfront that I’m not interested in debating the ethics of AI in this format, so if that’s where you’d like this conversation to go I won’t be taking it there. But for language learning, I was using Duolingo as a supplement to learning Latin from text books.

A comment from Brennan Lee Mulligan (funny human, genius DM, and modern nerd’s breakfast crumpet) on the Duolingo Instagram account that reads: “Hey @duolingo just wanted you to know I threw out a 1200 day streak, unsubscribed to Duolingo plus and deleted the app based on
your CEO's decision to fire your contractors and become an Al first company. Will happily be looking for a "Humans First" replacement.
¿Quizás tu CEO debería reconsiderar su estupida idea?”

Canceling our family’s #duolingo membership. It wasn’t that great a learning experience anyway, and it’s only going to get worse now that it’s going fully #ai .
Glad to see we’re joined by our favourite @brennanleemulligan.bsky.social and many others

A poem constructed (by me) from words carefully cut from old books. It’s words create a curving shape down the page and read:
“When
everry good
thing

seems
to
be
disintegrating

and even
hope
seems
obsolete

it is our
solemn duty

to give an
unholy shriek
in the face
of despair

and
carry on
working
for each
other”

Each word is in slightly different font, on papers that have aged to various shades of ivory, beige, and brown. The cream surface they’ve been adhered to has the texture of hot pressed watercolour paper.

Some really solid results for VS in this election, with big swings to us in the lower house seats we ran in, and a more than tripling of our vote in the Senate (on current numbers). And we've got big plans for what comes next. Join VS now and be part of it! (link below)
