I learned a lot in the research for this and I'm proud of the episode we put together. Reactionary cultural framing of childhood and family life can make it hard to talk about trans issues productively w/o unpacking a lot of that first. We try to do that here.

Peoples brains have been so ruined by electoral politics that all the top comments for this article on r/Alberta are just pricks shaming rural Albertans for voting UCP, when: 1) it's O&G companies doing the harm, 2) it's the AER that's failing & 3) The NDP are pushing MORE pipelines! #ABLeg #ABPoli

If you suggest that the Alberta NDP should not be subordinate to the oil and gas industry you get former MLAs in your mentions telling you to give up on the party and vote Green instead.

The ANDP freakout over the Lewis win reminds me of nothing more so than the PC freakout over the ANDP win in 2015, which is kinda funny.

*Lewis wins*
Nenshi: Even though Lewis was elected, we still like pipelines!
Smith: they say they like pipelines but they don’t because Lewis is an eco-socialist

And here is where I point out: automatically accepting the premise of your enemy’s argument before they even make it is a gift to them

I don't think this man believes in anything beyond his own career.

The Alberta NDP loves to let Conservatives frame their messaging and to boost the right wing narrative. They're scared of their own shadow and would hate to ever be caught standing up for something.

Nenshi's New Energy Plan is UCP-Lite Timid, rooted in the past, driven by politics instead of rapid energy systems change

Nenshi's New Energy Plan is UCP-Lite

Early responses suggest the only Albertans interested are UCP partisans and separatist trolls.

Almost no news coverage. Zero. Nada.

A major flop and embarrassment for @abndpcaucus.

I just wish there was room in the Alberta NDP for people who wish the province wasn't run by and for oil and gas executives

So a giant fuck you to any and all Albertans who voted for Lewis, because the provincial party couldn't bear to be associated with anyone who gives a shit about the climate.

If someone's focus on a political position is electability they've already lost the plot. You need to actually believe in things and want to improve peoples lives, not just vacillating between approved points you don't yourself hold!

If no one on the "left" side of the political spectrum in Alberta can imagine a party that doesn't kowtow to oil and gas then I don't think we should be surprised if the rest of the country leaves us behind.

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.

There's another map that seems to show the advisory extends to the other side of Crowchild.

Hey Myke, the maps provided by the city are low resolution and inconsistent. Do you have access to the exact boundaries of the boil water advisory?
