I never thought Iβd say this, but spinning has my whole heart. Knitting will always be my main hobby, but the process of spinning is so magical. I canβt wait to spin up the last of my six skeins and knit a Nightshift Shawl with all handspun yarn.
So happy I decided to learn a few years ago.

Thereβs something about getting outside in the winter that is so refreshing and invigorating.
We finally got enough snow to go snowshoeing on the lake, so I put on all my knits and got outside.
This is the Kintra sweater by Rebecca Clow, and I knit the fingering weight version because fingering weight sweaters are my happy place. I used 12 colors, but it can accommodate 3-24 CCs.
This yoke contains yarn my mom & I dyed at a class about dyeing with invasive species. She passed away a few months after that class, and Iβve been waiting to find the right project for it.
This sweater represents our shared hobby, & how much knitting has given me in the years since her death.
Iβm a firm believer in the fact that this is a hobby, so Iβm going to knit what brings me joy, and if that means I have tons of WIPs so be it. I go through phases where I finish a bunch of old WIPs, so theyβll get done (or be frogged) eventually
My latest skein of handspun is finished. This was merino combed top from Northbound Knitting spun into a three ply.
Iβve been spinning for a shawl but lost steam when one of the skeins I spun wasnβt quite what I was going for. But, Iβm back on track and have three left to go!
It was such a fun workshop!
A few weeks ago I went to the Up North Fiber Retreat and one of the classes we did was to make a basket. Every time I see the basket I made, I think about how much joy making (knitting, spinning, other crafts) gives me.
And .. I still canβt believe I made this basket.
Canβt wait to see what you make!
Thereβs something about spinning that slows down time, quiets the mind. Itβs just what I needed to end the day.
So much fun! It was good to (re)connect with you in person!
I caked up my custom Spincycle colorway to make a Metamorphic (plus a few other projects). I canβt wait to see how it knits up!
The last picture was my inspiration photo when dyeing the fiber.
