MacGuffin & Co. in 2026?! A 🧵 (1/3)
Here's a reminder of our continued existence as we return from a social media break, excited to share what we have in store for this year!
Keep eyes out for an announcement soon...
We're of the strong opinion that not enough fantasy RPGs engage with the reality of historical professions.
Good news for adventurers who've just been blasted through a the wall of a nearby house by an angry wizard! MacGuffin & Co.'s latest patreon drop finally addresses the question everyone's been asking:
"Whose house is this?"

I fuckin love Bohren. Just walking-the-night ambient jazz that goes from cozy to spooky to oddly disconcerting on a track-by-track basis. Sickos should also check out their first album "Gore Motel" for a grindier sound that works for a grimier game.
TTRPG SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
Artist: Bohren und der Club of Gore
Style: Doom Jazz/Film Noir
Good for: Any game with "Cthulhu" in the name, investigative games with dark or jazzy vibes
Start here: www.qobuz.com/us-en/album/...
There's lots of good dark ambient stuff out there, but Concrete Desert is one I find myself coming back to again and again. American Dream especially has soundtracked many bleak wasteland journeys and will no doubt soundtrack many more in years to come.
TTRPG SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
Album: Concrete Wasteland
Artist: The Bug vs Earth
Style: Grinding wasteland ambience
Good for: Deadlands, Apocalypse World, Mork Börg, anything where the world is dead or dying
Start here: thebugmusic.bandcamp.com/album/concre...
Sometimes you need your game to feel like a John Carpenter movie, and you know who's got your back? John fuckin Carpenter. He's been putting out new music since his retirement from filmmaking and his Lost Themes albums have the advantage of not making players go "is that the theme from Halloween?"
TTRPG SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
Artist: John Carpenter
Style: Synth-heavy 80s Horror
Good for: Monster of the Week, Unknown Armies, Tales from the Loop, any slightly grindhouse-y horror
Start here: johncarpentermusic.bandcamp.com/album/lost-t...
Or British 1970s Kids on Bikes and give it real Penders Fen or Kes vibes.
I love WRNTDP for the smorgesbord of vintage synth that gives failed future feelings to any game. Halfway between blade runner and a 1970s childrens program about the wonders of science, it hits a tone that most cyberpunk games don't even realise they need.
TTRPG SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
Artist: Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan
Style: Failed-Utopia Electronica
Good for: Mothership, Cy_Borg, Cyberpunk Red, Shadowrun.
Start here: warrington-runcorn-cis.bandcamp.com/album/your-c...
It's an extra little zine we put together earlier this year, so I don't think you'd have it. Hold on, I'll send it over
Happy to ping you over a digital copy, if you like
Most solo TTRPGs are half-roleplay and half-writing-excercise, which is great, but as professional writers we sometimes struggle to play them without it feeling like work. So with the solo mode for Pitcrawler, we decided to try something a bit odd. Hope you have a goos time with it!
You as well - always a delight to hang with the muppet crew!
Really enjoying seeing everyone posting up their Dragonmeet hauls! Unfortunately for us, the picture would mainly be a pile of snotty tissues as we've been laid low with a big post-convention cold
Nice little haul from #Dragonmeet yesterday. Not pictured, some fantasy and spicy hockey recs from @lalionnecosplay.bsky.social which will become my flight home reads 🏒
