@lokapila.bsky.social Put in a request to the Department of Housing under FOI, asking for analysis/modelling of the likely impacts – on affordability and supply – of the government's big, recent rental law changes.
The response? No such records exist.

Oh god you poor thing! Sounds awful. Glad to hear you’re being well minded.
You assumed correctly. Purpose built student accom the only other licensed accom afaik.
A fitting way to celebrate the release of 1926 census data.
Tenement living is alive and well.
22 bedspaces x €890 ea = €19,580 per month/€234,960 per annum.

Yep. I was looking at one filled out by my great grandfather who was amongst other things a chauffeur and a shop keeper and the handwriting is gorgeous and matches the signature too.
Joking aside, every proposal for age verification and ID verification is a proposal to give your data to Palantir, and that needs to be rammed home to every EU commission, EP and national politician every time they spout that rubbish.
Thank you. I will look into it further…
Would you need to be very technical minded to do it? I’m getting increasingly frustrated with Microsoft and Google and Apple and everyone else basically but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be techie enough to figure it out…
😖
Imagine if you can working for an organisation where people were going around thinking, and perhaps saying, this kind of stuff… 🤔
😂
Quite a friendly cult, if you’re looking for one to join…
First time I’ve ever been described as an historian but I suppose if you are writing about football as long as I have a lot of it is history!
Enjoyed the chat with the Journal ahead of next month’s Phizzfest talk I’m taking part in on ‘The Dublin Clubs History’
I may have initially read this headline in Glaswegian… 👀😅
It’s ok Patrick, if you were a woman Ivana wouldn’t have been making a joke about you at all, because the people of Limerick County wouldn’t have elected you…

I feel there’s quite a few grandparents birthdays going to show up in different years than expected etc…
And there was no point having an email address because apart from my classmates I only knew 2 people with them to email. Now in fairness by 1998 my parents had an eircom account so I could email them from my summer working in Canada. But really it wasn’t pushed on people. It just became useful.
It really wasn’t being shoved down our throats at all. I started college in 1996 and it was the first year all undergrads in trinity got an email address, and you could only use the computer labs in the arts block with web browser internet access if you were studying IT or languages.
Missed this yesterday…

This is a really odd argument because I think at the heart of it, there is a deep misunderstanding about what writing is for. I write to communicate my thoughts and ideas, and to bring people along with me, which AI cannot do for me because it isn't me.
Patriarchy, innit. Men should do something about that 😉
These guys are absolutely great for Dublin news and if you aren’t already subscribing I highly recommend it. Excellent value for really interesting in depth reporting.
Or, and stop me if this is too outrageous of a concept… people are just getting older? People age 55 and older were age 30 and older 25 years ago when internet access and mobile phones were becoming commonplace. This nearly 50 year old decrepit wreck sent her first email in 1996 kiddos.
There is just so much shit wrong in this country that could be fixed relatively easily if there was the political will to do so. Imagine the economic and social benefit of getting these all into use. Probably cost less than half a billion too. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...
The council could solve this by implementing the public sector duty on equality and human rights and ensuring it is passed on to suppliers and contractors. It’s been the law since 2014 but barely anyone is implementing it properly. It applies to ALL public sector organisations.
I’m pretty sure both those brown things would be illegal in the EU…
