Today, for Day 8 Circular of #30DayChartChallenge, I'm reflecting on my data viz glow-up journey.

A few years ago I experimented with a global choropleth map encircled by a radial bar chart (ggplot2).

Now I'm recycling this idea for an interactive data viz to visualize The Global Human Day (D3).

- Created an Azure acct & spun up a SQL server
- Dropped, recreated, & re-seeded tables 10x because of data type issues
- Hooked it up to a live Nuxt app
- Got 500 errors on the live site
- Yelled at Firewall settings for 30 min (it was a cache prblm)
- GOT IT WORKING ON A LIVE SITE

Network popular TV creator Taylor Sheridan's universe of shows and actors. The app allows users to select different creators - Mike Flanagn, Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes, and Robert King. The network diagram populates with actors and shows they've been in, showing strong overlap across different series. The current network diagram highlights the most connected actor in Taylor Sheridan's universe - Jordan was in 5 shows and 62 episodes across the Sheridanverse.

Back on my BS re-doing my website and all the old content for the gagillionth time.

Hooked this up to a live API instead of static files. Still working on the exploratory interface.

Tip on measuring the adoption/efficacy of your tool:

1. Look at # of sign-ins per user and avg session length
2. Look at # of exports to Excel

If that 1st number is low, and the 2nd number is high, you need to rethink your UI/UX.
