What is funny is California. The Dems preserved GOP seats in 2000 to avoid super majority and the GOP returns the favor with a non-partisan redistricting commission. Neutral redistricting wiped them out so they sued. Then the recent vote happened, further obliterating them.

As my current Lenovo laptop (2022) is flirting with EOL, I've decided to do something with my older Lenovo laptop (2017)
Install Linux on it.
I tried doing something similar back in 2009 and failed. Maybe this time it will stick.

The "we need bipartisanship!" thing originally began not as a call for liberals to work with conservatives but for liberal northern Republicans and liberal northern Democrats to work together to advance liberal policies in an era where conservative Dixiecrats dominated commitee chairmanships etc.

Fun Trivia: the original 70s STEPFORD WIVES film is unavailable in any current format because in the 70s a lot of companies with too much money diversified by buying film companies. Most soon realized what a bad idea that was, but Bristol Myers held onto the rights for some reason.

sometimes I think fondly of how we could have had chaos with Ed Miliband but the British press thought he ate a sandwich wrong.

flipping through a proof of yet another book from a somewhat well known liberal voice diagnosing “where the left went wrong” and i’m struck, again, by the fact that a large part (if not most) of the liberal commentariat simply does not believe that the political right has agency.

What sort of idiot are you to come into a project meeting and say that it has been a while since you looked at the board?!?!

I'm in a (Hebrew) conversation with Israelis where they're explaining to me why it's significantly easier to be vegan in Israel than it is elsewhere and it's truly fascinating to think about what is effectively the trickle down effect of kashrut-informed dietary culture in a Mediterranean setting

Today is Israel's official Memorial Day for its fallen - both for civilian victims and for lost soldiers. I'd like to direct your attention to the sacred, sacred, sacred work of the Joint Memorial Ceremony, where Palestinian and Israeli bereaved mourn together.

The Jerusalem Cross is a symbol of the Crusades. Disingenuous people argue it’s “just a representation of Christianity and not bigoted”

But we all fucking know the Crusades was about massacring anyone that wasn’t Christian.

Pete Hegseth has a HUGE one tattooed on his chest

It’s a symbol of hate.

My sincerely held belief is that the fury coming out of TERF Island is that, for Brits, a bloke in a dress has been such a thing in their comedy for decades (doing all the terrible things they go on about) that they cannot comprehend that Trans women are not that.
