I can sympathize with both sides of the debate, but I will say that the article does carry something of an air of self-justification, rather than trying to present a nuanced discussion.
4. Casually Messatsu dinner.
Lack of sorcery you say?
Ahaha, holy fuck.
Neat, I've never heard any non-Ys Ryo Yonemitsu arrangements before. Definitely has his style.
What (lack of) sorcery is this?
Well, the next Carrington event will certainly destroy what we think of as modernity...
You really do. Genuinely one of the best value propositions in all of gaming. It initially feels very limited, but as you get a bit of meta progression and you understand better how to best make use of the abilities, it becomes INCREDIBLY satisfying. And it's STUPID cheap. I have like 200 hours in.
I'm not a fan of dungeon crawlers or deckbuilders, but I adored Vampire Survivors and the reviews for this are making it look fun in a way that dungeon crawlers and deckbuilders literally NEVER do for me, so maybe I'll give it a go.
To be fair, it is apparently an excellent example of all of those things...
You ever wonder if games as a medium/industry are too buzzwordy?
First-person dungeon-crawling roguelite deck builder.
That was bad, but nowhere near as bad as the true ending in Shadow of War. Definitely one for YouTube.
Overall, the writing is pretty sharp (though the "tear you from limb to limb" line still bugs me). The lack of voiceover does leave the game feeling a BIT flat, but I'm enjoying how it's all playing out as I near the finale. I hope it sticks the landing.
Yeah, I described it as basically INSIDE in structure and gameplay, with the occasional predetermined combat encounter that does lean on the Arkham archetype, but it is never the focus beyond those scripted moments. I'm in the home stretch and will probably finish it tonight.
I won't deny the lyrics are some goofy shit, but the craft and production on "I Want It That Way" are top tier. The song got big for a reason.
I love the concept, but that audio mix is a fucking mess.
You really, really should. Both Rearmed games are WELL worth your time. ๐
Any fans of classic JRPGs would do well to check out this channel. Their breakdowns of Ys I-III are stellar.
When all you have is a hammer, my friend...
I'm watching two of my favorite people connect, and it makes me feel like my presence in this world is maybe not a net zero. โค๏ธ
The shit thing is, this presumption of ill intent is STILL THE FAULT OF OTHER MEN. When a kid smiles at me, I smile back. When a kid brings me something, I engage with them politely. But people are still leery of me, no matter how kindly and gentle I am. And I can't blame a single one of them.
LOL
For those of you wondering about Replaced, I can sum its general vibe up thusly: most strongly reminiscent of INSIDE, with occasional predetermined setpiece battles that lean heavily on the Arkham mode of combat. Solid writing, feels a bit dry without voiceover.
They told me to protect my neck, and so I have!
I don't know who this person is, but I suspect her biases make her prone to extreme hyperbole. If not, than another explanation should be sought. But her comments are pants-on-head insane.
I share your outrage, but would only correct your framing.
Not "What is wrong with people." What is wrong with MEN.
The manosphere is an existential threat to society that must be addressed.
Right there with you. Caffeine does literally nothing to me until I cross some extreme threshold, beyond which I'm a jittery mess for the next several hours.
That's absurdly cute. And you don't have a valentine heart somewhere on him... WHY, exactly? Tsk tsk, tut tut, etc.
