gonna speak frankly about this: localization, especially good localization that does the players of that respective language right is expensive and time consuming, often prohibitively so. it's one of those asks that so easily gets dismissed as an easy add that they should do, but it's not

Tonight, the President of the United States has launched an unconstitutional war of aggression, dooming another generation to spill their blood for oil, and lay waste to a sovereign nation.
I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president.
If you're an American (or from another similar western nation) I cannot stress enough that you should look into the history of the atrocities the USA has committed in South America. This is not new and we cannot let the horrific crimes perpetuated in this nation's name repeat
Nothing frustrates me more as an aspiring SW engineer than such mindless comment about how certain technology is inevitable...
Technology is shaped by humans. If something is inevitable, it's because somebody is freaking asleep at the helm. So don't mind us taking over.
Please put the US under sanctions. Cancel the LA Olympics. No international conferences.

seems about right
All in all this is the sequel we wanted and deserve. Zootopia series is proving to be a sanctuary from the world around us without being out of touch. For all their faults, Disney has now proven it still has the creative engine. The question now is if it sputters out or it revs on.
I didn't expect less from the visuals and animations department, but they still delivered. The free-standing dolphin was weird, but they again managed to incorporate each of the animal's mannerisms into how they act and move. The missing one point is for the lack of wow-factor.
Second, the entire plot point around Snake's alleged framing was poorly delivered, and the majority of the info comes from Judy simply assuming what has happened. I guess they did it not to clutter the pacing (which was perfect) but they don't let me be the judge and make me take Judy's word for it.
Another point was deducted for the overall delivery of the story, the problem of which consists in 2 parts.
First, it feels like the story was especially cruel to Nick this time around. The story demanded him to put off his emotions and words for the sake of plot. He deserved to be more assertive.
All in all this feels like the return of the Disney Revival era... for both good and bad. They couldn't help but make yet another Disney twist villains that ruined the character. This one is less egregious than the other ones, but still pretty bad, and I had to deduct one point for it.
This is a movie that, for the first time in a while for a Disney movie, knows how not to take itself too seriously. The cinema was non-stop laughing at this movie and while I laughed considerably less, they were indeed funny moments. It feels like the creative control is back.
Disney was stumbling for a while before this movie. Their 100th anniversary movie dull, their sequels half-baked, and live-action remakes overused. Zootopia 2 breaks this trend by at least keeping the essence of what made the original so good alive: the chemistry between Nick and Judy.
It is therefore laudable, that Zootopia 2 managed to stay grounded and expand on its premise set out almost 10 years ago. It is still a flawed, half-baked, watered down take on inequality and justice, but the fact that it exists, to this capacity, in current climate, cannot be dismissed.
Zootopia 1 was born to a world where humanity signed the Paris agreement, the UK was thinking of Brexit, and Trump's presidency was just an aspiration.
Zootopia 2 was born when humanity decided the Paris agreement is unattainable, Brexit was complete, and Trump is enjoying his 2nd presidency.
#Zootopia2 review: Order up
Story: 3/5
Cinematography: 4/5
Overall: 7/10
Detailed review is coming soon (to avoid spoilers and cuz I have bigger fish to fry)
Update: I was able to recover my account... worked out better and faster than I anticipated.
Feels like it should be bigger news that a journalist known for being loud about her investigations into banks/payment processors appears to be getting financially stonewalled by the entire industry unaminously right now.
My #Discord account was falsely accused of spam or fraudulent behaviour and was disabled.
If anybody else was affected by this share me your stories and whether you were able to get your account back.

operating community-driven bluesky (not just PDS) will be much more expensive than an equivalently sized mastodon. you need double infrastructure that other data consumers, including corporate ones, can just tap into without announcing. bluesky is a distributed twitter, not a federated twitter.
the reason i'm not as active on mastodon is that i simply don't have much friends, not because your post cannot reach to everyone (it can), not because the ui is convoluted (it's optional), and not because i can't decide which instance i'm going to settle in (there's no shame in using large servers)
