A more minimalist capture from a local bluebell wood from this morning. The carpet of flowers this year seems to be incredibly thick - making it seem particularly vibrant!
Sunrise in an Oxfordshire bluebell beechwood, where the warm light kisses the flowers and trunks beautifully.
First light across the bluebells. This moment as the sun came out lasted about 10 seconds, as thick cloud was filling the sky.
Peak bluebell bloom in the Chiltern Hills - amongst beautiful beech trees. Sunrise casts wonderful light into the woodland, creating a beautiful scene.
Peak bloom. The bluebell carpets are truly vast in our British woodlands, stretching out in all directions as far as the eye can see. The sights, sounds and smells of the forest are incredibly good for the soul.
You're very welcome!

Thank you!
Cormorants rest on trees on the banks of the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England. Mist covers the landscape, with the blue river water just coming through and sunbeams shining through the trees. A delicate sunrise scene.
Delicate moments at sunrise along the River Thames.
Here are three bluebell captures from last year. These have been included in the British Wildlife Photography Awards 2026 book, alongside a huge range of excellent photography.
It’s now time to get back out into the woodlands and see what 2026 has to offer!

Some Friday Mood! This was captured at blue hour in a local woodland, just before the woodlands come alive in Spring!

I did see a fair few fighting. Didn’t realise it was that violent!
I don’t usually photograph birds, but the robins up in the Scottish Highlands are so curious you can get super close! I just loved photographing them and catching their movement. They’re pretty cute aren’t they!
Thanks Armand!
A dream like sunrise over the River Kennet and the River Thames, where mist gently sits on the landscape. A small bridge crosses the river, adding some scale to the landscape.
Happy Easter to all of my BlueSky friends! Here’s a dreamy scene from a couple of weeks ago, at a confluence of a smaller river into the River Thames. A small bridge crossing shows the scale of the scene.
Autumn & winter. Slightly different compositions for the conditions and colours.
Beautiful mist lit up from behind by the rising sun, casting magical sun beams through the trees. From the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England
Where the mist lies. I loved how the trees seemed to blend into the mist - and when combined with the light created a rather special sunrise. It almost looks painterly.
A unique tree, growing at an angle with bends in the trunk. A fallen tree in the background adds to this composition. From the Chiltern Hills, England
The zig zag tree. Mossy, moody, foggy.
Layers of trees from the Oxfordshire countryside, during a murky and misty morning.
Something a little different for this Sunday. Layers of trees, from beech to oaks and distant pines. Black and white helps to accentuate the textures and delicate nature of this one!
Taken along the River Thames, where mist covers the landscape, and sunrise cuts through the trees casting sunbeams. The mist seems to merge with the trees, creating a compelling composition.
Majestic moments at dawn, where mist from the River Thames seems to merge with the surrounding trees.
No need to apologise. We have to be vigilant these days
The city of Oxford captured at sunrise from above. The centuries old buildings are full of character, with their timeless architectural styles.
Oxford from above. Seeing the almost 1,000 years of history from this vantage point at sunrise really was something. The buildings ooze character, with their timeless architectural style and many spires.
You’d hope so!
