Oh for sure, I definitely think the tablet is great on it's own! Artists can have entire careers using only a tablet. No worries, I hope some of my thoughts were helpful 😅

2️⃣ maybe a more high contrast medium could help, like ink brush pens or charcoal pencils? Or for the tablet, maybe drawing people inside cafes, at the library, or sitting by a window if it's shady & drawing the view? I think it's valuable but also super fun to switch up mediums for the situation

1️⃣what you see & translating it onto a surface. I draw digitally with photo refs at home, & I have a small sketchbook/ mini watercolour set that I use if I have spare time while I'm out. If you want to draw outside, 2️⃣

Oh yeah I've had teachers tell me I need to draw from life too. It's valuable if you can, even sometimes, but it's for sure not the only way to learn. It has this 'prestigious tradition' reputation, but it's not always accessible. I find studying from photos is still great, you're still analysing 1️⃣
