Nature is everywhere, even in the busiest cities. From April 24–27, over 100k people around the world will step outside & photograph the wild nature around them for the #CityNatureChallenge — the largest annual community science event. 🧵⤵️

I have found this reference:

Apparently it is some sort of carbonate breccia that was used in Imperial Rome in Central Italy but it is very rare and its provenance is unknown

Should be Araneus sp.

There are blueschists, but they happen to be in the ZF hanging wall, so their exhumation is much older history. In a 2021 paper we proposed exhumation in an extrusion wedge setting around 20 Ma or so. The ZF is 5-6 Ma old and slipped at very shallow crustal levels crosscutting exhumed metamorphics!

When the paper will be available online, there will also be this figure showing the ages of all rocks in the area. "older". The oldest stuff here is around 7 Ma :)

Short take home message.

"No major exhumation recorded by the Zuccale Fault"

Every model proposed to explain the fault should take this into account.

The thin grey rim around white mica is chlorite, which was likely overgrowing white mica due to the release of Mg from dolomite in this contact metamorphosed marble.

Help geo/paleo hive mind! A student asked how much time is represented in a band of a banded iron formation and not only am I clueless, but my Google Scholar search didn’t yield a clear answer.
