My DM @pastaparade.bsky.social has had my characters family have interaction with my character and others making them seem like they exist outside the party, and also giving meaningful events and rewards for playing into my characters faith despite him not being a cleric among other things.

Nobody is making them do 8 hours of prep and we have told him he doesn't need to but he does anyway because he has the free time to do so, they never said their way was the way everyone has to do it, only that other ways don't seem good to them. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean they can't.

Can you all stop forcing your assumptions on my dm? We get plenty of opportunity to make our own choices in how things go and plenty of autonomy over our characters and how they act, and every player has been more than pleased to play in his game.

If you want them to have tails in your game, give them tails. This would only matter if you are going hard core forgotten realms lore only, since almost all dms use at least a some homebrew, Surprise rounds, dex tiebreaker initiative, being hidden while invisible without hiding etc. It will be fine.
