Yesterday, Bev went up the tower at St. Mary's to look at the restoration work, and took some brilliant photos. As well as the stunning view of the Tyne Bridge, we have the inscription from the work done in 1741, and the new gantries! It's so exciting to see the restoration project unfold. 😊

Winter has long been linked with ghosts. C19 NE folklorists also saw late December as haunting season, noting that Co. Durham was on high alert for ghosts from St Thomas' Eve until Christmas Eve, when they returned to the spirit realm. If St Mary's had ghosts, we'd be sure they have stories to tell!
