They really hate Black women to have any influence or power whatsoever. Theyβll only be happy if Black women take subservient positions that βput us in our placeβ

This is very important to be aware of, especially if you're still under the impression that women have anywhere close to equal rights in Medical spaces.
As a student training in spiritual care for end-of-life: what grief and bereavement work best supports individuals/families in gaining clarity around options. As a chronically ill person: how do we recognize & challenge norms that often push marginalized populations towards premature death?
Image of a Caucasian woman with glasses wearing a turquoise sweater and grey hat with a brim, sitting on a grey couch, smiling at the camera. Her dog is behind her with its head on her right shoulder and paw on her left (like a hug). Her dog is a collie mix, caramel in colour with a white muzzle and brown nose. Behind them is a plant and some wooden blinds.
Coming home to this dog and her hugs is definitely one of life's joys. And photo credit goes to another of my life's joys @therustyshow.bsky.social βοΈπ
I've been thinking about ethics and theology as something that is embodied, made real through our actions in the world. Through my lens of chronic illness and immunocompromisation, there's much that we are a society, and as spiritual beings, have to learn about the gap between what we say and do.
Ableism teaches us to abandon each other.
Racism will disable you.
Transphobia will disable you.
Long COVID will disable you.
Genocide will disable you.
Climate change will disable you.
Do not obey when told to abandon the vulnerable.
Resistance & communities must be rooted in disability justice.
I am the sole masker in a hospital-based spiritual care placement. There has been at least one unit in active COVID outbreak every week since late September. I will never understand how health care workers are willing to play Russian roulette with a deadly virus.
The community I'm part of needs support. Please share or donate if able. π

How exhausting and scary it is to seek health care when the medical practitioners are some of the folks most entrenched in ableist biases
Graysexual, and learning about other labels and my own identity to see what might fit.
I would be remiss in not mentioning that my reading pile for school is pretty good, too. π
What would be my "currently reading" pile if I weren't midway through a busy semester. So for now, my TBR line up waits patiently, and I gaze longingly.
