All tech companies do is force stuff that is clearly already illegal on people without asking, say oopsie and use the trillion dollars they made to pay their 100k fine from Congress, an institution that they assume, with considerable evidence, that they can buy, overwhelm, and outlast.

The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.
More and more it appears the ultimate freedom for these freedom-loving patriots is the freedom to commit sex crimes against children.
We should try electing some kind of deliberative body that makes decisions about levying taxes.

ICE has completely broken our social contract.
They manipulate social trust and are creating lasting damage to our most basic social foundations
there was nothing unusual about it at all, we were simply travelimg via boat through the caribbean with our multiple nannies when we stopped off for lunch on a private island with a billionaire registered sex offender. completely innocuous and normal. an all-american family vacation
"If we impeach Trump, we're still stuck with Vance."
Yes! But do you appreciate the MASSIVE L they'll have to eat as a result of their guy at the top being taken down? It also pierces the aura of invincibility.
It makes them WEAKER.
When you assemble a squad of thugs and tell them they're above the law, don't be shocked if they start behaving as if they're above the law.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.
They are literally canceling all the comedians because the far-right regime doesn’t like them
Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah took down X posts Tuesday making an apparent connection between Gov. Tim Walz and the man accused of shooting two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses, and blaming “Marxists” for the murders. The change comes after blowback from Sen. Tina Smith and her staffers as well as Minnesota Democratic and Republican lawmakers. One X post said “Nightmare on Waltz Street,” with pictures of Boelter, who is accused of killing Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and shooting Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in the early morning hours of June 14. Boelter also went to the homes of two other state lawmakers that night; one house was empty, and at the other, a police officer pulled up to the house shortly after Boelter arrived, so Boelter left. Another Lee post read, “This is what happens When Marxists don’t get their way,” with a picture of Boelter.
No elected official Democratic party will be as cruel about Kirk's death as Mike Lee was about the death of Melissa Hortman.

one of the most important technological revolutions in modern history and you're likely not hearing anything about it because it's making the oligarchs who control our information environment poorer instead of richer
anyone: [quotes charlie kirk’s exact own words and nothing more]
their boss: that’s hateful and you’re fired
When a right-wing man murdered Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota, progressives asked MAGA to tone down the rhetoric to prevent more violence. Within hours of Kirk’s murder, motive still unknown, the right is demanding that the government wage a campaign of violence against their enemies.
Have we not already been living through years of mass political violence?
The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.
Imagine 20 years ago telling someone a notoriously shady buffoon would somehow con his way into the White House, get charged with a bunch of crimes and face possible jail time, the only way out to get elected again, and he does it.
Seems like a good moment to be revisiting this history

Does anyone need a reminder that Alex Acosta, who gave Jeffrey Epstein the notorious "sweetheart deal" the first time his crimes were exposed became Trump's first labor secretary (until he was forced to resign when Julie K. Brown of the Miami Herald exposed the whole thing in 2018).
Same director for both!
I hope that history records just how bizarre it was that the president sent DOJ's top deputy down to interview a notorious child sex trafficker with nothing new to say for two days just to ask her about her relationship with the president and then publish the results
