The legislation referenced in this 2018 story was eventually passed and is now law. It's made sea lion removal easier but predation persists and in some years is significant.

It may seem silly from afar but sea lions and other predators are a legit cause of salmon and steelhead mortality on the Columbia River. They are far from the only problem, nor the most significant but it's a real issue of concern for MGP's district and beyond.
