Great flash talks from Anton Patrikeev (HPV evolution in head and neck cancer) and Florian Gabel (resistance evolution in prostate cancer) both from our @cec-icr.bsky.social @icr.ac.uk #CrickCancerConf

In this perspective, we examined the present and future interface of AI & translational cancer research for @cp-cancercell.bsky.social - led by the stellar Dr. Josephine Yates! @danafarber.bsky.social @broadinstitute.org www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Here's our latest - jointly with @rhaq1.bsky.social lab & co-lead by Drs. Schiantarelli, Benamar, Park et al - studying why some tumors stop responding to immunotherapy. This continues to be a tough puzzle to solve, but important for science & patients alike...

Salary? Good, I bet?
It's a great book, such nice production quality.
PARP inhibitor, olaparib, has transformed treatment for men whose #prostatecancer has DNA repair defects, but most cancers eventually become resistant.
@seedgeorge.bsky.social at @icrlondon.bsky.social has uncovered genomic changes that predict how long men will respond.🧵

This work was supported in part by @prostatecanceruk.bsky.social, who really are leaders in supporting research and have been fantastic to work with.
Delighted that a major project of my post-doctoral fellowship in the de Bono lab has been published. A really interesting story, featuring the likes of @icrlordlab.bsky.social @boragurel.bsky.social among many others at @icrlondon.bsky.social and elsewhere.
This weeks coffee club paper focuses on genomic changes linked to PARP inhibitor resistance ☕
The work was led by @prostatecanceruk.bsky.social's Travel Prize Fellow @seedgeorge.bsky.social from @icrlondon.bsky.social
Congratulations to George and team 🥳

"Shock Christmas Message: Doctors say ABSENCE Makes the Heart Grow FONDER"
Health experts today warn about the risks of over-fondness and wistfulness, as growing absence rates lead to a rise in diagnoses nationwide.
Don't forget to save these functions in different scripts that are all sourced at different points.
It's a challenge to strike this balance, partly because of the well-described pressures we are under to deliver "results". Your boss lets you know there will be some transcriptome data coming - how much of a deep dive can you afford to do on the methods? It's non-trivial.
I'd say that while frequently packages 'work' - ie. produce output without complaint - but is the output useful? Has it worked 'correctly'? It's part of the challenge of the field, really, and ties in with the thread: the user has to understand what the inputs and outputs look like. And that's hard!
