If done well I can see how this may not be a money loosing promotion for anyone.

I have no industry insight, but in my personal experience I buy a lot of heavily discounted ebooks that I would otherwise not even consider buying at market price. This has to be a huge sales volume increase, maybe enough to offset the discount. Other benefits are exposure & sales rank boost.

At least you get to have an opinion now. I concur. Having grown up in the 80s I usually appreciated the nostalgia aspects of the series, even when cringey. But the end was just a bit too thick for my taste.

I wondered the same. I was surprised to see so much time left in the episode. I watched it. If you don’t watch it you’ll deprive yourself of the opportunity to have an opinion about it. ;)

I’ve enjoyed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Episodes were shorter than GoT episodes, but had faster paced story telling. Each left me looking forward to the next episode.

@jamieped.bsky.social happy you know what to you know who! Good wishes on your journey forward.

Fascinating. While we can’t rule out an Alien invasion, if the devices have the same firmware then I might think it could a bit of bad video memory. You might see if a device reset is curative. Also, you could swap boxes to see if the distortion follows the box of stays with the TV.

That is weird. Do you have another set-top-box to compare with? I wonder if it is a code bug, or bad video memory on device.

I worry that we may often be, “preaching to the choir”. It can feel good, but there is a big portion of this country whose moral values or perspectives seem to be bad. I don’t know how to reach those people… yet.

Exciting! You get to be like a mad scientist with your broccoli now. I’ve no practical advice, but offer my support and encouragement. The doneness of broccoli is subjective. Firm broccoli isn’t inherently bad, unless it way too firm.

Expressive breath control is fun to experience in an EWI. The tutor will be as good as I make it. It is just another world for me to build and I love building worlds. I’m not very coordinated, so that may be my biggest challenge. I need to retrain my mind. Fun journey ahead of me.

And I just ordered a MicroChord. This sounds crazy. I’ve become slightly obsessed with learning all about music. I can play a few beginner songs on the piano (not well yet). I’m writing a MIDI based music tutor in Rust. I’m starting with keyboard, I will adapt it for EWI, drums & guitar.

I bought a few little MIDI controllers, then a full size electronic piano w/weighted keys, then I got an Electronic Wind Instrument, Soprano Recorder, Tenor Recorder, 3 synthesizers, Ableton Move, DirtyWave M8, Launchpad Pro, Acoustic Electric Guitar. I have an e-drum coming on Wednesday…

Possibly bad advice: I would (and did) go down a YouTube rabbit hole when I want to talk myself into buying a new toy. I now have a literal pile of musical instruments I’m trying to learn. I just need to build myself a music tutor, which I’ve started . :)

I don’t trust AI 4 recipe transforms yet.

I don’t think it is, “unpredictable”, but I never took enough time to figure it out properly, so I can’t really comment.

Someone who is a more competent chef than me could figure all that out. I only made mashed potatoes like twice a year, and it was always a fumble for me. Sometimes I used too much water and it took too long to get pressure. I was impressed with the device, but never spent enough time to learn it.

I got an Instant Pot pressure cooker. I’ve only used it for mashed potatoes for family events. It is computer controlled and doesn’t pish steam constantly like the old school PC my father has. I’ve been impressed with mine.

That is cool! Your kid is fortunate to have a father like you.

By, “with the baby”, do you literally mean the baby gets in the pool? I know that can be a thing, just wondering if that is the thing you are trying to do. If so, I’m impressed. You may be raising a little surfer!

Wow. Baby humans are difficult. Perhaps your past sleep experiments have helped you adapt to this challenge. Parenting is important work. Good wishes on more sleep ahead.

That makes sense. Some of our traits may be trauma responses. Without the trauma we may not have become who we are. Some childhood trauma is unavoidable, some should be avoided. Your awareness will help you navigate the mazes ahead.

I think I may be similar to you in some ways. I don’t see those as bad attributes. It is a question of degree. I feel an obligation to serve the world in order to pay rent for my existence. I live to be useful. My mind may be contorted into a misshapen tree, but my shape serves a purpose.

Alas, they R growing up in a different world than I did. I don’t want to deprive them of opportunities to discover their own inner strength. I want them to have a chance 2 be better than me. It is hard 2 know what is best for others. I support them, but try to leave space 4 them to find themselves.

Before my nephews could speak I found it hard to engage w/them. They were like wild animals. Once they could talk I could reason with them and built great relationships with them. Of course there were (and will be) challenges. I wish I could give them the cheat codes for life that I learned.

You are a being in evolution. As John Connor said, “we have no fate, but what we make”. I imagine a few things in your life have changed since last Christmas. You will be making new traditions.

I’m glad you are getting back into programming. Still using C# I presume? I’ll be interested to know how Windows on ARM works out for you over time . It may still be the future. I just wish it was a less messy rollout.

Too much time fighting MS. I’m an MS investor. They really had to work at losing me. I’m now trying to embrace Linux more. It isn’t perfect, but I find myself fighting it less. I’m even playing with a Linux phone.

What made you buy the snapdragon surface?

Separately I was disappointed by lack of visible Linux support on launch. MS has disappointed me with pressure to login with them. They want to get in between me and my computer. No thanks. Also Excel changes broke my software in ways that were difficult to fix. As a Windows dev I feel like I spend
