Everything about this is twisted.
Alberta’s #UCP government served notice in the legislature Thursday it intends to toss out the entire report of the 2025-26 Electoral Boundaries Commission.
This is unprecedented as far as electoral boundary commissions go, but not a complete surprise, writes @djclimenhaga.bsky.social. #abpoli
Everything’s a secret these days 😞
What a waste of City resources…. from a mayor who can’t even maintain world class things we already have - examples including the Celebration of Light and the 50m Pool.
Eliminating libraries in prisons is a disaster, completely shortsighted. Libraries are a lifeline for incarcerated people who want to learn and grow, and have few other options.
The symbolism is fucked:
Trump as a deity. Angels as US special forces type soldiers. Doves as F-35s. Adoring "real white Americans" types.
But it does seem to reflect the imaginary world Trump wants to represent to his voters.
Today marks the 150th anniversary of the Indian Act. Over on @activehist.bsky.social, we’re running a year-long series examining its controversial history. Here’s the series introduction I contributed to: activehistory.ca/blog/2026/01...
women were kept out of meetings and career opportunities at Pixar because John Lasseter was so much of a sex pest that people decided it was easier to simply not have them in the room with him
how many talented women didn’t get a fair chance because one guy couldn’t behave himself?
This made me laugh 🤭. They have used a lot of turntables lately. Ironically there isn’t a built in one so they install one each time it’s asked for in a show.

YA books are not 'dirty.' Even the ones that include sex.
Some readers might not be ready for that, and I think there's a real conversation in having more options for upper MG/lower YA, but calling some books 'clean' ain't fucking it.
Slavery was actually pretty awesome. Sure, people were beaten a lot and couldn’t leave, but it was all worth it for a night at the theater.
I have a father and mother in law in Iran. I have a sister in law. A niece. She's 14. She likes silly pink headbands and purses and dresses, just like kids her age all over the world. There are 93 million people like her in Iran. People who do all the normal mundane life things as the rest of us.
I am so glad to have a bunch of new moon pics to look at whenever I need them.
Sad? look at moon pic
Mad? look at moon pic
Anxious about everything? look at moon pic
MOON PICS!!!
Oh my god.
The Prime Minister's social media account puts out a post reflecting on the horrors of one genocide, hours after refused to explicitly condemn the threat of another.
(Not to mention the failure to close loopholes that see Canadian companies arm yet another genocide -- in Gaza)
Somebody stop him. For Christ’s sake.
"History will judge-" let me stop you right fucking there, history doesn't do fucking shit, I'm a historian, let's be clear here: elected officials need to do their fucking jobs, right now, before it happens, or future historians will judge THEM. Everyone knows and knew who Trump was.
This ⬇️. Enough is enough. This is not normal or ok.
Israeli soldiers are detonating entire villages in South Lebanon while taking selfies. Ancient mosques, churches, cemeteries, schools, hospitals - all being obliterated by the genocidal regime

In B.C. (Canada), there's a government website that walks trans people through every step of their care.
And almost all of it covered under the public health system.
It's at www.transcarebc.ca
Canada believes who you are shouldn't determine how you're treated.
The Alberta government is now considering some level of book restrictions in public libraries, not just schools. And once again they are taking aim at LGBTQ2S+ books.
Don't forget where this focus came from.
It was never actually about "concerned parents."

Alberta is the canary in the coal mine. Christian rights or no rights 😞
Whenever I want to check in on the state of Canadian democracy, I look at its weakest link: the Alberta government.
And folks, it’s not looking great.
You know the Don’t Say Gay stuff we’re used to seeing in the the United States?
It looks like something similar is coming to Alberta schools.
It's so refreshing to have a politician finally say out loud: no one ever asks if the police turn a profit so why should the post office
Still having trouble understanding trans people? 🏳️⚧️
Here is a handy guide for you on this International Transgender Day of Visibility:
— Trans man = man
— Trans woman = woman
The bill has been approved. Israeli prisons will turn into guillotines for Palestinians. Hundreds will be executed in the next few weeks. 9300 hostages now in Israeli custody. Dark day for humanity. Unforgettable memory in the Palestinian cause history.
Israel’s holocaust of Palestinians reached a horrific new low today. No different than trains heading to gas chambers. Shame on everyone silent about this.
