Hi Elissa, I think notation is definitely a symbolic representation of sound, instructions for performers, and an interpretation guide. What musicians do with it can be creative interpretation. I do not think it's a colonial artifact but it may become a way to preserve music for future generations.๐Ÿ˜Š

I LOVE this! I recently played ukulele and led one-to-one song sessions with some Memory Care residents. It was so FUN and they were SO engaged.
