People who are unusually noisy when using the bathroom worry me.

personally I agree that we should indeed reject the hollow pluralism of pretending that we shouldn't judge Klan, Nazi, and sparkling eugenicist subcultures according to what they have historically produced, and would enthusiastically endorse rejecting inclusion of them in public life
Eight children murdered in Shreveport, LA. It’s all so depressing.
Oh god, tooth scraping on wood feeling!
A white cat with a black spot on its head is morphed to appear human and is looking at the camera with a surprised look on its face.
I just think it's neat.
I sometimes think about how crazy it is that Chicago is older than the modern state of Germany.
For my LA people: Sweetest James
It’s important never to try anything, folks. If things are bad mostly just wait for the possibility that they could improve in the future while doing the minimum to be proactive on this front in the present.
Reading THE COUP 1953, THE CIA, AND THE ROOTS OF MODERN U.S.-IRANIAN RELATIONS by Ervand Abrahamian, and I’m struck by how different the world of today might be if the British and Americans weren’t hellbent on stealing Iranian oil.
Not a chance I’ll vote for Swallwell. He should drop out.
Cynical politicians who pretend to care about issues as serious as sexual assault can fuck off forever.
Obviously it’s art.
A pile of partially or mostly empty condiment containers lying in the grass next to the street.
Don’t know what to make of it, good or bad omen wise.
I told a student that citing their sources in an essay is roughly equivalent to showing your work on a math problem, and I’m still feeling pretty good about that one.
I figure Bullseye was like, ‘Yes! I finally get to use the “you’re welcome” knife!’
Yeah maybe I’m naive but pretty much everyone I cared to hear from on Twitter has migrated here. I get pretty much everything I used to get there here.
I have this theory that warm water dehydrates you somehow.
My Thomas Pynchon character name would be Jimmy Chonga.

It was about slavery.
How do you stand people paying attention to you?
One thing that was striking about the Nazis is how often they seemed to understand that what they were doing was evil because they felt the need to mask it in some way through lies and/or subterfuge. A lot like what is happening now in our politics.
Of course! Primary sources! It was staring us all in the face this whole time.
This is where you lose me, Karl, and we've had a few disagreements before. Do I think No Kings will save us? Absolutely not. Do I think it's good that there are frequent outpourings of visible pushback against an autocratic regime? Yes. No such thing existed in Weimar Germany. It still matters.
So I realized recently that my desire to go arguing online is the part of my neurodivergence that's always hunting for dopamine, anywhere and anyhow I can get it. Need all the dopamine. Crave it. Hunger for it.
question: Hey Dr. Tingle, got any parenting advice? I’m pretty sure we’ve already got the unconditional love and support bit down, but wow this is an intimidatingly high stakes job! answer: this is going to sound OVERLY SIMPLISTIC but in some ways i think that is the point, because the specifics will always vary but i think this part will remain the same: your gift to your child is positive attention. it is simply to care when they are young it is to take a moment and give them your time. to read to them. to play. to say 'hey what are you up to over there? wow thats pretty cool.' when they are older they might start to push away and that is fine, you still just say 'hey what are you up to over there? wow thats pretty cool.' when they are adults you will call them on the phone and say 'hey what are you up to over there? wow thats pretty cool.'
'hey what are you up to over there? wow thats pretty cool.'
Here comes The Atlantic with the absolute shittiest take you've ever heard in your life again.
High profile people are still living under the threat of expulsion from the United States and, as we've seen, not necessarily to their country of origin.
I have got to stop telling editors they will "rue the day" after they reject my work.
No one with power does the reading. I read that whole god damned report, the little good it’s done me. I at least know that yes, demonstrably, the Russians intervened during the 2016 election in favor of the Trump campaign, and no effort by John Durham or anyone else has proven otherwise.
