Queer be Dragons The long history of queer people as monsters - and the dangerous return of that story

As a gay man, this piece really resonated with me.

Why have queer people so often been cast as monsters - and why is that language creeping back now?

A brilliant guest piece by @sachacoward.bsky.social that I’m very proud to publish.

Hercules to Hockney: Queering Sheffield’s art collection ‘Local voices are literally the bones of this exhibition’

A major new exhibition at the Graves Gallery aims to unearth hidden queer stories in the city’s art archives.

The show covers thousands of years of history, from Hercules to David Hockney, as well as loads of art from Sheffield itself, and some very snazzy wallpaper.

'The Telegraph's Phantasm' (Full Digital Version)
A graphic artwork titled "The Telegraph's Phantasm" by Marty Davies. The background is a psychedelic, swirling pattern of neon green, purple, and blue. In the center is a stylized logo for "The Telegraph" in a black Gothic font. Surrounding the logo are dozens of small, rectangular boxes, each containing a headline or phrase related to trans people, such as "Trans Fanatics," "Gender Cult," "Trans Extremism," and "Evil Trans Ideology." The boxes are organised in a grid-like "taxonomy" of media headlines.

I studied over 400 hate-ridden headlines from The Telegraph about the Trans+ community and what emerged was a new artwork currently exhibiting in Brixton.

BBC Radio 4 - Free Thinking, Queer Histories How do we apply modern LGBT+ language and identities to historical figures?

Today is the start of LGBT+ History Month in the UK. I joined some cool people a while ago to reflect on why queer and trans histories are rich and powerful. Our histories can illuminate the possibilities of activism and politics, as we work to build a better world.

Keep the conversation going.
