So it needs to be mixed, and not inside bread... I asked my wife and she said she was from a place where things in blocks of Jello were called salads so she couldn't answer.
"Meal salad" is a good term.

I've thought about this for longer than I expected, because I've realised that once a dish becomes filling I no longer think of it as salad. Now I don't even know what a salad is anymore. I love falafel wraps, are they salad? Is a bento salad?

This has reminded me of someone telling me that the UK was self-sufficient in meat production (making more than the UK eats) so that was great for food security, and when I pointed out that UK meat production depends on huge imports of plants grown in other countries, he said that didn't matter.

"Pearce told the FT that the produce was largely grown abroad, and importing it would therefore “increase cost”."

That's either a lie or incompetence, that's not how prices work

Man has HAT!
Hat has GONE!
Man is BALD!
Hat is BACK!

I'm certainly not doing it because I think they're mine, or even just to make them shut up. It's just a human thing to do. Also hats are funny.

Phones to be banned in schools by law in England under government plans Education minister Jacqui Smith said the move would create

Nowhere in the article does it mention that *staff* can use phones, which amused me, but then I realised the ban prevents most 2FA/MFA secure logins, which is less amusing

Zoologist and author Desmond Morris dies aged 98 Morris, who was also a surrealist painter and broadcaster, was best known for his 1967 book The Naked Ape.

Desmond Morris's books changed my life (for the better, I wouldn't have met A. without him sparking an interest in anthropology) but they're also full of utter nonsense

In the real world, the majority of students being shocked and offended are rightwing kids horrified by facts. This ridiculous campaign is meant to import reassuring lies for them.

Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage.
A woman answers the door.
We have come for the child, says the hooded figure
So soon? she asks
It is time, says the hooded figure.
The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card!
What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure
We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading!
For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness
Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman,
the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them.
Do not cry mother.
I am a writer now.

If an MP was less informed about Mandelson than an average UK Bluesky user they really shouldn't be an MP. But I find it impossible to believe they weren't - MPs love to gossip
