We will make a submission proposing as a solution fossil fuel subsidy roadmaps.
It was announced at COP30 last year. Only selected countries will be invited, including COFFIS countries @energy.iisd.org
There are three pillars guiding the discussions:

Note on country coverage: The United States requested that their data be removed from further reporting on OECD’s support measures for fossil fuels. They have thus been removed from this update, including from all numbers on previous years reported in this document. As such, any comparison with previous updates of the Inventory should take this removal into account.
❗We know that the United States are completely withdrawing from climate action, but it is still surprising to read in the latest OECD Inventory of Support Measures for Fossil Fuels 2025 that the US has asked for their data not to be included.

✊It’s time to move fossil fuel subsidy reform from repeated promises to enforceable EU law.
❌Current EU tools aren’t delivering. The Governance Regulation, the European Semester, State aid control and energy taxation all fail to force real phase-out commitments.
🚩Reporting under National Energy and Climate Plans is fragmented. Definitions differ. Enforcement is weak. The result: public money continues to prop up fossil fuels while climate targets slip.

Breaking: The Canadian government is being sued over its 2025 federal budget, which introduces new fossil fuel subsidies and weakens climate measures.

❌🛢️When governments pretend public money is scarce and they cut public services, the continuous waste of huge amounts of public money through fossil fuel subsidies must end sooner than late
COFFIS members should drive forward progress on fossil fuel subsidy phaseout at COP30 by:
1️⃣Strengthening commitments on fossil fuel subsidy phaseout in Mutirao decision
2️⃣Embedding fossil fuel subsidy phaseout in Article 2.1c
3️⃣Ensuring Paris-alignment of flows to deliver on the NCQG
➡️But Finland, Denmark and Luxembourg are yet to even publish an inventory, and Austria, France, Ireland, and Spain are delayed on their commitment to publish national phaseout plans
