Geopolitics of identity: why Russia cannot help but invade Since 2014, the start of the Russo-Ukrainian war, one phrase still haunts me: โ€œะžะฝะธ ั€ะฐัะฟัะปะธ ะผะฐะปัŒั‡ะธะบะฐ ะฒ ั‚ั€ัƒัะธะบะฐั…โ€โ€”they [Ukrainians] crucified a little boy wearing nothing but his underwear.

More than 1,000 people were waiting to evacuate. The strike killed 63 civilians, including nine children, and injured more than 150 others.

Of course, portraying Israel as "evil Zionists" works the same without knowing Hebrew. It brings more "likes", more engagement, more rating, and major media channels do it all the time. Alas, WarTranslated isn't much different from them.

I kinda expected @wartranslated.bsky.socialโ€ฌ to translate, but, alas, he doesn't seem to know Hebrew at all.

Israeli television launched a countdown to "Trump's deadline". It literally says "ื”ื“ื“ืœื™ื™ืŸ ืฉืœ ื˜ืจืืžืค".

Nothing was said in this video about "a large-scale airstrike on the Islamic Republic".

I mean, is it more uncommon in Hungary to stumble upon a person who speaks (or at least understands) another European language (other than his/her native Hungarian), than in other Central European countries?

I've only been to Budapest for a week nine years ago, so my experience is very limited.

Is it a mutual barrier? Hungarian is notoriously hard for any foreigners to learn of course, but does English, German, or French pose much of a challenge for native Hungarian speakers, when compared to Czechs, Romanians, and Poles?
