Confirmed ICE flight, Tue April 21, est arrival: 12:45 PM.

Shackled detainees will board at Signature Aviation between Terminal 1 & 2. Observe from Terminal 1 parking ramp - gold 7 is best.

Since Jan 1, we've tracked 90 flights through MSP, carrying ~3,388 people out of Minnesota.

I spent many hours on MetroTransit entertaining small children so we could go to indoor playgrounds a couple times a year. Catching that hourly bus with a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old is a PhD level transit skill. Anywhere in Mpls would have been dreamy.

As an observer, everyone enjoys watching the Böög burn. And, there's a visible class story seen in who marches in the parade, who is inside the fence with the bonfire. For locals, it's a public demonstration of wealth and influence.

Zürich's Sechselaeuten festival is a four-day spectacle with costumes and parades, concluding by burning a firework-filled snowman on a bonfire. Organized by (sealthy) Guild members, it used to mark extending the workday until 6, thanks to long evenings.

It's an anti-May Day.

It makes perfect sense for a statewide DFL politician to write off 13% of the state's population.
Right?

Right?

Photo taken from inside a stall facing out the door. A huge tree trunk, which seems to be more than a dozen thiner trunks or roots merging together, pierce the ceiling, which is installed around the tree. It's very sunny outside.

Each Palermo antique stall has different strategies to manage the holes in the roof that allow the trees out. 3/3

Photo of a corrugated metal-sided building, showing three doors. The closest one is wide open and a very large tree trunk that looks like many small trunks grown together is visible inside. Large branches are growing off that trunk through the roof. The siding has many colorful boxes and some paintings hanging on it.

The end of a building in full sun, entirely sided with more than a dozen sheets of corrugated metal. They are of varying colors, a couple rutsted, some shiny, some dented. Off on the shady side antique wares are set out on the street. Trees seem to be emerging from the roof.

It's build largely of corrugated metal, around and encompassing a cluster of huge trees. The trees grow literally through the roof. 2/3

An almost entirely shaded street, showing one long block, with large leafy trees creating a roof over the street. It's lined on both sides with small stalls, each with an open "garage door" sized hole. Each door has lots of items set up outside on the street for visitors to explore.

Palermo's antique market isn't great just for the antiques. It's an amazing street to hang out on. Check out that shade.

(Then, zoom in and check it out again, especially the trees. More in the 🧵) 1/3

Today is day 137 of the ICE occupation of MN.

A group of organizers were discussing the lessons of the last 5 months, and came up with two key lessons Minneapolis residents have learned again and again:

No one is coming to save us.
and
We keep us safe.

Let’s keep taking care of each other.

ICE agent faces felony charges in February road rage incident in Minnesota Hennepin County authorities on Thursday charged an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent with felony assault in connection with a Feb. 5 road rage incident along Highway 62.

Prosecuting rapes, robberies, murders is something you get no matter who you elect as county attorney. But there is actually a meaningful difference when it comes to how committed they are to holding law enforcement accountable.

Totally. I couldn't tell if he always does this, or it's one step in a small project. Only a small area was fenced off.

Man in a light grey sweatshirt, black jeans, and work gloves kneeling on a stone sidewalk. He's holding a power tool with a chisel blade on the end, pressing it into the stone. Most of the stones are covered in irregularly textured divots, which stop right where the man's tool is working. It's smooth on the other side of that line.

I've wondered about Italian street materials for 3 years. They are stone slabs, covered in small irregular divots. "How?"

In Sicily, I saw the "How" firsthand. This guy was working hard, sunglasses his only protective gear, flakes of stone flying, manually texturing the stone.

I was handcuffed/charged with jaywalking (didn’t) holding a large camera taking a photo of street outside this McDonald’s.

While detained, MPD ignored multiple burglary calls. I had to take it all the way to trial where they tried to shake me down for a plea before dismissing 1 min before trial.

The housing shortage was felt first and most extremely in blue cities, so there've been more years of pro-homes advocacy in blue cities.

Optimistic take: Advocacy works.

Construction workers use a simple pulley to lift heavy blocks into a 3rd floor unit on a narrow street.

For those of us not as tuned in as you, what does the bill include? Any poison pills?

I glossed over that, but I did make it back aboard my train before it pulled off.

Roughly 30 minutes on the water, less than the loading or unloading time.

Well, we left at 5pm and arrived at 1pm, so the "good night's sleep" wasn't the challenge. Making up time, maybe, but when we were running late the dwell times didn't get any shorter.

I don't fly, so the direct flight from home (Zürich) never appealed to me. The Delux upgrade was worth the (not very expensive) upgrade for comfort - seats, mattress, and effective blackout shade were all nicer.

Don't forget that it is the last operating coal-fired steamship in the US. Avoid wearing white when you take the Badger across Lake Michigan.

It is convenient for travelers, the terminals aren't popular destinations. Also, the ferry is clearly a draw in itself, travelers like it as much as Bsky users.
