@andrewhickey.500songs.com was Yusuf/Cat Stevens a Small Faces fan, or were they just in the same scene? It's a bit odd that they both had a project about a small boy looking for the Moon narrated by a legendary verbally surreal British comedian...

I don't know if you do errata on the bonuses, but I was trawling through Discogs, and it appears that the Lloyd Webber credited on Hey, Love is a Chess songwriter Lloyd Cleveland Webber, not ALW:

I love this. Is there a clean copy so one can play along at home?

I think Cliff's was the only one released at the time? The Nirvana version is on a rarities comp from the 90s.

Great track (in Cliff's version). Very Northern soul.

@andrewhickey.500songs.com I'm wondering if you've thought about doing The Equals as a bonus? Really fascinating group I've been thinking about with the recent rise of reggae and rudie culture on the 500 Songs narrative.

Is Concord Records not supposed to be Coronet Records, or did Jack Sheedy have another small label?:

There's also 1946's The Voice Of Frank Sinatra, 1948's Christmas Songs By Sinatra and 1950's Sing And Dance With Frank Sinatra. The other Columbia 78 RPM packages don't really hold together thematically all that well, though.

I said this and proceeded to get "She's My Baby" stuck in my head on a loop, which is both incredibly catchy and indefensible for myriad reasons. At least "Silly Love Songs" is self-aware.

I'll defend many of the songs on those records, but the pressure of following BOTR and the democratic split among band members was going to weaken them no matter what anyone did.

Also not familiar with Taylor aside from the singles and folklore & evermore (the ones "Serious Music Fans" she says with heavy side eye like), but that sounds like *mid*-70s Macca to me - mostly Speed Of Sound and a bit of London Town. Late 70s is straight up good/experimental - BTTE and S/TII, etc

You cannot trust information coming from Kash Patel's FBI. You cannot trust information coming from ICE. You cannot trust information coming the Trump administration. You cannot trust information coming from Republicans.

Kash Patel bullet casing

Kash Patel bullet casing

Why doesn't Kash Patel say who was shot and killed?

Were detainees shot and one killed by ICE?

"ANTI-ICE" scribbled on casing looks like a bullshit cover-up.

Congress must investigate ICE allegedly shooting and murdering detainees.

a black and white photo of a robot saying " care " Alt: An original Cyberman from Doctor Who's the Tenth Planet. Weird, creepy, unsettling. A cheap costume that's way more than the sum of its parts.

The older I get the more I appreciate Tenth Planet Cybermen. They're never beating my beloved David Banks' Cyberleader, but damn they just keep getting creepier.

Hey so just fyi, if you're abandoning trans rights you're abandoning all civil rights

At that point what the fuck is the point of the democracy you're willing to sacrifice trans people for

This actually isn't hard at all, quit making it pretend hard because you finally feel scared too

Republicans keep telling us not to "politicize" these shootings, but that's only because they understand that these shootings were entirely motivated by the political arguments they themselves have been making and entirely facilitated by the political campaign against gun control that they have led.

apparently she was also incredibly antisemitic with all sorts of slurs & dogwhistles written on her weaponry (idk, that feels like a more meaningful detail here)

all that learning about her gender is helpful for is to not misgender her; beyond that, it’s fairly obvious why that became the focus

it makes me so fucking mad that a person could not only do a mass shooting against innocent children, but do so knowing full well that their despicable actions will be used to demonize their entire community. fuck her so fuckjng much for this holy shit. absolute evil. may the children rest in peace

Ghouls already using this tragedy—our city’s 4th shooting in 24 hours—to stoke hate and violence against our trans loves. Please minimize your social media use for the rest of today . . . go outside, love on as many people as you can, and come to Lynnhurst for the 8 pm vigil if you’re able

I tend to like the Stripped Down and Anthology versions of the DF material - except "Woman" which benefits from the lush production.

That said, trying to weld those plus the Cheap Trick thing plus the drum machine demos plus that "solo vocal" "Every Man" together reveals the futility quickly...
