Oxford university spinout OrganOx sold to Japanese group Terumo for $1.5bn Co-founder says sale to medtech company will accelerate global adoption of its transplantation technology

So many startup gems (once unicorns?) snapped-up to overseas buyers. Nothing stays in this country that's valuable. ARM would have been the British chip designer of the world were it not flogged-off under Cameron.

Electronic Device and Smartphone Searches at US Border Hit Record High More device searches were carried out in the last three months than ever before.

Refused entry for denying US Customs access to your phone?!? Why not hold passports as most nosey/autocratic countries do!

As 4 simultaneous Handbrake 4K compressions run Mac Studio's the built-in video encoders, the rest of the CPU's are having a yawn. So impressive M Chip power and efficiency from Apple. They have really mastered top chip design.

The council got rid of the benches at the foot of Leith walk and the locals have responded appropriately...

I heard a broadcaster/podcaster describe Trump as great for business, describing how 75% of his show's content has been led by Trump's emanations. What is tiresome is the amount of similar content on Social Media. Fountains of this effluent splashing-up everywhere. Makes me turn away from SM.

Scottish Water

“In total, SW delivered over £1 billion of investment in critical infrastructure last year, whilst also hitting targets for timely delivery.

As a publicly owned organisation, every penny of surplus is reinvested into improving services”

The Central Belt doesn’t see this, but several are cottoning-on. When you step back from the good of harvesting wind to make electricity and see the industry as a whole, coupled with the industrialisation of rural Scotland, then see who is paying and who is gaining then conclude it’s unacceptable!

This is what I’m awake to. Industrialisation of rural Scotland to zero benefit of the local communities. Why do local areas not see discounted rates or other VIG for hosting wind renewable generation. And why are others starved of local infrastructure that would transform their bills & service.

So we’re swinging between extremes with no middle ground.

8 months ago 0 0 1 0

Yes. They just don’t plan to local community needs like Applecross. The only consideration is grid supply south with nothing for the industrialisation. There are over 100 planning applications across the Highlands with zero influence for local councils. Highlands Council being the largest inn EU.

Now we need electricity generation and supply to be more driven by community needs.

It is a simplification beyond reason when politicians pull this trick.

Scottish wind farms paid not to generate nearly 40% of potential electricity Data highlights concerns over the increasing cost of curtailment for consumers

Scottish wind farms paid not to generate nearly 40% of potential electricity

What the article suggests is “Scotland” receives renewable subsidies, my point is who owns Scotland? I bet these payments just flow south, just like the electricity does.

An opinion, but reinforces it understanding government cannot regulate technology or moreover people’s use of it.
