I understand justice matters but the reopening of cold cases is surely going too far now

O'Brien: This is room 101, where you will be confronted with your deepest fear, the one thing your mind cannot stand
Julia: Oh shit are you going to start explaining that fucking book to me again
O'Brien: You didn't enjoy my explanations? I tried really hard.
Julia: Oh, yeah, uh, no, it was great
Lena the streets need you to write this
I’ve realised recently that the main feature of everything I write is “straight relationships that feel queer” what this says about me I don’t know
It’s always “sacrifices must be made” with his lot - well maybe I’m tired of our rights being the sacrifice you up on your alter to the Green Tories, Adrian!

I can but that’s because I’m built different
I don’t want to spoil much but the way it weaves fairy tail and horror together is just sublime. Listen to it before bed!
Spirit Husband by Uchechukwu Nwaka - By far the best short story I read this year. So evocative, I was carried away by it. Pseudopod put out an episode featuring this story which I highly recommend you listen to: pseudopod.org/2024/04/05/p...
“France on Trial” by Julian Jackson - Jackson provides a withering profile of France’s puppet ruler during WW2. Captures a tumultuous moment in French history. Jackson provides insight into Pétain’s defence team, I was particularly fascinated by Jacques Isorni, who became obsessed with Pétain.
“Queen of the Black Coast” by Robert E Howard - First time reading Conan the Barbarian and I had a damn good time! I may read more in 2025. Full of gore, adventure, and romance. Simple, efficient, wonderful.
“The Storm Before The Storm” by Mike Duncan - A fast-paced book I read in one sitting. Whilst I didn’t agree entirely with Duncan’s analysis he offers a thoroughly researched perspective on why the Roman Republic collapsed and what lessons we can take from it.
Favourite books I read this year ~ !
