That's fair. I remember predicting she would win, but feeling a frisson of anxiety - one might call it a vibe - that election night could end up like Hillary Clinton in 2016.

This British writer seems to find these subsidized propagandists frivolous and absurd. That’s not how it looks from America, where the ghouls running our country learned their most effective authoritarian strategies while supping Orban’s goulash. hrf.org/latest/how-v...
Not really. Polls also underestimated her win, in some cases by a lot. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
Wait, can you explain 4.? I’ve been following the Platner race but missed that one.
“Neil DeGrasse Tyson rules.”
I think this is how to campaign like Peter Magyar in America. bsky.app/profile/adam...
This is an amazing interview. I also recommend the @kimlanelaw.bsky.social interview with @michaelpodhorzer.skystack.xyz, which has more to say about learning and applying lessons from the Orban defeat.
Contra Ross Douthat, Dems do not need to prove they hate immigrants as much as Trump.
Who is the “socialite lioness”?
Cohen exaggerates. Trump was kept out of the operations control room for the airman rescue, not the entire war. Their preferred strategy is distracting him with ballroom design questions.
One man’s ancestral homeland is another man’s authoritarian ethnostate.
Oh god, you're going to make me watch the whole speech, aren't you? Fine, I'll take one for the team. But it'll take me a little while.
I would say that Schumer correctly describes the Palestinian view of the Nakba in 1947, which he thinks they still believe in 2018. He doesn't expect them to accept his view of Israel's legitimacy, which is based on Torah. But he points out that the jews & christians in the audience do accept it.
That’s how I read it. The fake quote suggests that Palestinians are dumb for not believing in Torah, whereas the real one suggests a valid difference of opinions.

Schumer’s argument is garbled, stereotyped and pandering. But it implies that Arab leaders have a valid reason for opposing an Israeli state, while the false quote suggests the opposite.
The paraphrase makes Schumer sound like a lunatic: blaming Arab leaders for not accepting the Torah. But Schumer’s point is that this is why Jews believe Israel is historically Jewish. Arabs don’t share that history and culture, but Americans (that is, Christians) do, so we must stand by Israel.
My theory is that the leadership of Palantir grew up reading cyberpunk novels in which massive corporations displace nation-states to become pitiless overlords and decided that they were excellent instruction manuals.
Weirdly indirect way to support the original allegation tho, right? I’m rooting for you to take down Taibbi, but I don’t understand your beef with Stancil other than him being obnoxious, which is like, duh.
I dunno, this seems like an ugly smear of Stancil.
Fair question, but I think Democrats in Maine are more interested in Platner’s campaign priorities.
Which Democrats voted for this bill yesterday?
Did you delete the post? I don't really know how to read and engage if I can't access the original post.
You're really getting at a common experience of discrimination and oppression. Consider this study from Brandeis, which finds that many minority students find themselves on the outside. www.brandeis.edu/cmjs/antisem...
I don't think it's a problem for the Nevada senators, but Schumer is in his last term.
Man, “offbeat” is such a 🚩🚩🚩.
A few months ago, one of my favorite podcasters announced that he and his wife had divorced. Before going on hiatus, he talked about her and the family almost every episode. I was so invested in their adventures that this news shocked and infuriated me. Never quite trusted him after that. 🤷♂️
I see. Batman is Catholic the same way Dumbledore is gay. Except Miller sounds like he’s joking, which would be beyond Rowling.
