Federal agents used chemical irritants to push through an angry crowd that blocked their vehicles as they checked identifications in a heavily Somali neighborhood of Minneapolis on Tuesday, amid the Trump administration’s ongoing crackdown targeting the community.
Multiple U.S. citizens have been arrested during ICE operations.
The forcefulness, lack of communication, and unlawful practices displayed by federal agents will not be tolerated in Minnesota.
The agents handcuffed the man, took him across 4th Street and pushed him onto his knees in the snow. One put him in a choke hold.
“I have my ID!” he shouted repeatedly, as heard on video. The agents do not respond.
Susan Tincher, a 55-year-old American citizen, said agents told her in the truck that if she didn’t watch herself “they were going to pull me over to the side of the road and give me this OC,” law enforcement shorthand for pepper spray.
