I concede I am not an expert here, but when my Dad died, his estate paid 40% inheritance tax on the value of his estate (other than what was left to his widow), including the stepped up value of his stocks. So, yes, we inherited stock at a stepped up value, but pretty hety taxes were paid first.

We said goodbye to our sweet Emma this past Monday. We are grateful for 11 years with her. She was the sweetest, happiest girl. We are sad and we miss her.
