Larissa Waters asks former Treasury chief Ken Henry if it’s too simplistic to say wartime gas profits from the war on Iran can either go to Australians, or to overseas investors & shareholders.
Henry “That’s not simplistic, that’s how it is!” “It is as simple as that.” 💥 #auspol

The Australian Greens are calling on the government to audit every Palantir contract across Government and particularly in Defence, Home Affairs and intelligence agencies and table the findings in Parliament. The public has a right to know the full scale of the risks and the sell out.

It probably does also need further discussion of the fact that, when the government forces a private institution, such as a university, to platform a specific speaker voicing specific ideologies, through threat of a fine, that no longer constitutes free speech. That is compelled speech.

The OfS will be able to use the new complaints scheme from September. From April, it will be able to fine universities the greater of ÂŁ500,000 or 2 per cent of their income, which would amount to millions of pounds for large institutions, for breaches under the Freedom of Speech Act. Ultimately, universities could be deregistered for egregious cases.

Bridget Phillipson will introduce new laws to make it possible for Universities to be fined millions of pounds if they don't silence students who protest bigots invited onto their campuses. It's like the Tories never left office.

21. Some cultures have produced vital advances; others remain dysfunctional and regressive. All cultures are now equal. Criticism and value judgments are forbidden. Yet this new dogma glosses over the fact that certain cultures and indeed subcultures . . . have produced wonders. Others have proven middling, and worse, regressive and harmful.

Where are the AUKUS nuclear waste costings (let alone the dump sites)? - Michael West Defence has to provide costings for before procurement is approved. Where are the AUKUS nuclear waste disposal costs?

At this rate, Australia will get to dump US & UK nuclear waste here under the AUKUS deal, get no submarines for $368B, and still not be told where they're dumping the waste or how much it will cost

We need some more along the lines of "Democracy is not for passive consumption" or "Don't be a consumer of democracy. Be a participant!" I'm not that great with words though..

How the Greens could win 25 per cent of the vote The Greens need to get out of their own bubble and do some very serious soul searching if they are ever to have broad appeal, argues a co-founder of the Queensland and Australian Greens, Drew Hutton.

Yes, yes, yes - they definitely do!!

They need to start waking up up NOW

Look at their website - DEAD!

Start looking like you deserve to be an alternative government!!!

Pink and cream image that says Happy Non-Binary Patents Day, surrounded by hearts and stars

Today we’re celebrating non-binary parents day.

Not every family fits into a model of “mum” or “dad”, and it doesn’t need to.

These moments often bite really hard for the neurodiverse community. I have no idea if you are a part of that community especially given it's so poorly acknowledged amongst Gen X & Boomers, but I hope you're doing OK.

Joanne closed her helpline for single parents right around when she announced she'd be donating heavily to anti-trans causes. They closed because of lack of funding.

She's a billionaire.

She doesn't care about "single mums".

Hezbollah exists as a DIRECT result of Israeli violence in Lebanon. Literally.

They formed in 1982 following Israel's invasion and occupation. They drove the IDF out of southern Lebanon in 2000.

Western news media defiantly fails to report these facts. #IsraeliTerrorism #LebanonUnderAttack

How will history regard the Albanese government? On turning a blind eye to war crimes in Iran, Gaza and Lebanon

New post:
By now, it’s obvious how stupid, unpopular and costly the Iranian misadventure has become, and Australia’s leaders are backsliding, but have still not put any significant conditions or limits on our alliance with the US or Israel.

One thing that a lot of trans people have been doing (esp trans women) is silently dropping out of public life. The MSG is obviously extreme but the panopticon of pressure trans ppl experience in a heavily surveilled America is a lot. Safer to just stay home, forfeit public life

Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later.

We have an apparent cure for most people with pancreatic cancer—a profoundly swift, deadly cancer—and the position of the U.S. government is that it should be banned. This is real fall-of-empire stuff.
