I just watched it - funniest thing I’ve seen in ages.

I’m pretty astounded that arts organisations are still trying this on. Haven’t they seen in the last year or two that this usually backfires badly on them (such as ABC/Lattouf). She has already had to deal with this rubbish for her ARC grant.

I try and avoid the continual updates about the latest bonkers things the Americans have done, but I am now thinking they really are going to invade Greenland. I wonder if there will ever be a “red line” where americas “allies” will stand up to them

Trump is more blatant about it though. Doesn’t even try to justify this in terms of international law. At least bush had the whole WMD thing with Iraq.

Obama did send U.S. troops into Pakistan to capture osama bin laden, one can argue the result meant this was ok, but it still fits a broader pattern of the U.S. using military force in other countries to serve its own interests.

I thought at first this was an abandoned car in a desert about to be hit by a tsunami. I don’t know if that was the narrative they were pushing?

Those organising academic conferences must be weighing the risk of running a conference in the USA right now compared to pretty much anywhere else.

It’s completely bizarre that those running the USA are actively trying to dismantle higher education. I can’t imagine many Australian uni students choosing postgrad degrees or undergrad exchanges with US universities when there are so many other options in Europe, Asia and elsewhere.
