My exclusive variant cover for the Superman Spider-Man crossover. I believe it's available only through Fan Expo store orders but it was certainly fun to play in this sandbox.

there's nothing wrong with having a 'comfort zone' and working to constantly refine and excel at what you do within those parameters. And usually those parameters are defined by others not you. You're doing what you enjoy doing and nobody should be telling you to work outside of what you love doing.
I think temping causes diminishes for directors and composers alike. Producers and studios love it. Composers don't.
Star Wars was temped with that and other pieces (movies then were often temped with classical pieces which in 2001 became the score rather than what Alex North composed off them)
By the same token if you want to learn how to draw comics, just study how to draw anything from the perspective of not actually drawing comics. The thing that makes it a comic is the narrative not the drawing but if can draw anything, it means you can tell any story.
If anybody wants to learn how to write film music I'd suggest studying Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. Pretty much everything you need for anything in there from themes to texture and colour. Mind you, if there's one composer I can't ever do without it would be Vaughn-Williams
it was touch and go.
odd thing being 40 years in the biz. Many writers, artists, letterers, colourists & editors come up with you. Assistant editors become EiCs or publishers and creators reach new highs and new audiences. It's really lovely to see and reflect on. Then there are new generations to impress and inspire.
I have so far proceeded through life without being slapped. I was tutted at once though and have been the victim of an arched eyebrow on occasion
I just noticed that autocorrect got the better of that and what he actually said was "yeah I don't like your work" and moved on.
There's a guy who comes along to our GM full panels and works his way down the line enthusiastically until he gets to where I am and passes his books by me to the next in line "yeah, I only like your work..." and on with his enthusiasm of whomever is left in line. We decided to find it charming
The weekend is upon us and that means it’s time for another bi-weekly dose of Ghost Machine Fan Content Friday!
This week we are featuring…
Junkyard Joe tripping robots by @common_idols
The Northerner after @bryanhitch.bsky.social by @lostboy_comics
Comic-book artists work fast. We do a lot of pictures in a day. Sometimes it's not perfect. Even Beethoven wrote an occasional stinker. I can live with it. The next picture can be better but we don't stop to take in the wounded ;)
The superman march from Johnny Williams never fails to have me take flight.
this week I have done 14 pages of breakdowns, pencilled five covers and inked one of them. It appears to only be Wednesday so I feel I've earned an extra glass of wine.
A forest of pencils. A blank sheet of paper and one of these fellas is always an exciting thing.
Lovely work Rachael
This week on The Ghost Machines Fans Podcast we bring you a GIANT-SIZED creator interview with @bryanhitch.bsky.social AND Geoff Johns!
To celebrate our 100th episode not only will we be interviewing the incredible @geoffjohns & @bryanhitch.bsky.social, but we are giving away a copy of the 1:50 retailer incentive JIM LEE sketch variant of Geiger 19!
Thanks. DC have a decades long standing policy of not buying any art or stories they haven't first commissioned no matter how much we'd want it. Marvel have bought spec covers many times but DC never does
Thanks Jody. A bit of childhood!
Thanks Old Thing. (I just did a cover for your B&RY1, btw)
REDCOAT 17 variant featuring almost everybody in the INVINCIBLE world!
I'd been wanting to do this for a while but made enough time to squeeze it in. Based on George Perez' cover for New Teen Titans issue 1.
And backgrounds are a massive part of my work so I'd want to see
What you could do with the buildings, rubble, texture, etc, etc but, as I say, the figures look strong and would be great under good colour.
If I had any suggestions as to where there might be a positive direction to look at, it would be the textures. Not an easy thing to master but little things like the rumble on the single splash are a bit fuzzy. These pages show strong work in the figures but none really have backgrounds to offer
These are very good. Has a Von Grawbadger feel, by no means a bad thing. Faces are the to pencils and mine work makes sense, also a nice fluid line that still sticks to the corners, as it were without being unduly soft. I'm impressed.
Just because someone is talented at a specific thing, it doesn't make them a universally 'correct' voice on all matters. Something my wife reminds me of frequently.
I suspect everywahn and I suspect nowahn...
