Congratulations! Love this podcast even though I was a late convert. So much good backlog material to still listen to.
Two days after an ICE agent killed Renee Good in Minneapolis, a federal agent asked an observer, "Have y'all not learned?" Her phone was taken and she was briefly detained.
Two days after that, another federal agent said, “You did not learn from what just happened” to a different observer.
Reading on a page takes more effort and I think I can get more out of it that way. But there are books for which I don't care to go through that effort, and I find those are often great choices of audiobooks. The only wrong way to "read" is a way that you don't enjoy.
I like the guy in the commercial who "would do anything" to get his hair back
Yeah that makes sense. Used to be my TJ's. A great one to walk to and not drive to
Do you mean the one at Lincoln/Grace? Because it is exactly as you described lol
Such an interesting episode!
Toronto on the AL North while Minnesota is in the AL South is hilarious
I'm reading The Republic for Which it Stands right now and it's so interesting to read about the incompetence and corruption of the railroads in that time period.
A mistake by ICE led a man to be locked up away from his family for three weeks. Story in @chicagotribune.com by Sophie Levenson

Any local (to Minnesota) distillery or whiskey you want to shout out?
xBA and catch probability describe the event from different points of view. xBA (for describing the hitter) says how often a ball with similar trajectory would be a hit. Catch probability (for the fielder) says how often a fielder starting in his same position would catch that ball.
Can you say a little more about this letter? I.e. who it's from or the story behind it? I can't find much context anywhere online
The Bandwagon podcast started 5 years ago??? Time is crazy. And yes it was a great show. Loving the newsletter now
What a great surprise to hear a familiar voice from @footnotinghistory.bsky.social in this episode! Love when my favorite podcasts crossover
Thanks!
Do you mind posting the article/newspaper name that this excerpt is from?
What show are you talking about? I might be stupid but I don't see a title referenced in these threads and it's getting to me
Yes, I suspect the boxes aren't producing enough heat to turn water into steam. But depending on the temperature change of the water, you might be able to bring that heat somewhere useful! You have to recover enough energy to move the water too, so it may not be easy. But I think possible!
Yet another fantastic episode in a fantastic podcast series. I highly recommend The Siecle podcast to anyone interested in the revolutionary/empire period of France who is curious about what happened next!
When times get tough you have to make the hard choices, like letting your part time servant go
The Arizona Utahraptors
Utah not showing up for the Utahraptor surprises me! How is there not a sports team named after it
In this episode you use the phrase "frankly incensed". Is that a play on "frankincense" or am I just in the holiday spirit?
I think the saying "If there's zero waste, then you're spending too much money preventing waste" applies here.
Is that a Samuel Smiths in a can?
This is precisely the type of room I hope my history podcasters would have in their homes
Are you saying they weren't trying to mimic Fangraphs' style?
Happy birthday John Quincy Adams, the GOAT of all one-term-son-of-a-founding-father-presidents
