And yet mouth breathers say that people cycling need id plates so they can be identified.
It works so well with drivers doesn't it?

You're definitely allowed to hike to and stay in most of the ones in the Kosciuszko NP in NSW.
Almost 100% of the reason why I go watch stuff at the cinema. Ticket + beer + snacks is way more than at home, but the 110 - 180 mins of just watching a movie is worth every cent extra

Among many discussions we have with policy leaders at the Grattan Institute, one issue continually comes to the fore: Australia's democracy. But is our democracy really under pressure? If so, how should we respond? This is the topic of our latest Grattan Institute report.
Confront your city council and ask them point blank "Why is it ok for a bike lane to end?"
The core tenet of juat about every kind of nimbyism is preventing your neighbours from doing things you disapprove of. Like cashing in when someone comes knocking offering a bucket load of money
Ignoring the costs (whether monetary or otherwise) of imposing extra regulation is one of our national hobbies

No! It's very important that we keep the 49,999th, 50,000th and 50,001st functionally identical terrace or California bungalow in the inner west of Sydney
According to the RBA £65 in 1954 is around $2900 in 2025 dollars!
OK, I have annoyed the shit out of the local FB groups this morning with pleas to send in a response to the council's separated cycle path plans - so now it's your turn Bluesky!
If you're in the Inner West or surrounds, please provide feedback on this! yoursay.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/lilyfield-ro...
This is LITERALLY what (almost) every person in Australia says, “We could never do that in our city.”
The ones who don’t say this are friends of mine and can be counted on one hand.
My favourite recent example of this was Darcy Byrne (Inner West Council Mayor) saying in an interview why active transport is impossible: "we have some of the oldest roads in Sydney, they weren't designed for active transport"!!
Falling house prices? That sounds like a good housing market to me...

Randwick council:
Perhaps instead of claiming that student housing is crowding out apartments, Randwick council might consider zoning additional capacity in Kensington and Kingsford? They have the ability to do that

We had the same "bike fines the same as car fines", and ripping out bike lanes, but (at least in inner Sydney) things are going ok. As much as there's been some stupid shit about high powered e-bikes, at least so far the more normal ones are largely being left alone. It had better stay thay way...
This bullshit better never make it south of the Tweed. We've managed to mostly reverse a decade of fuckery in NSW, and this kind of madness would be a massive step backwards.
Best of luck in fighting it!
Any Australia-based or Aussie parking reformers here? Join us Tuesday morning 31 March (Australia time zones) for an online @parkingreform.org event.
I will moderate a panel on the need for change, recent momentum, and how to keep it going. Please spread the word! luma.com/yw04hq8d?tk=...
Enough with the FALSE CHOICE between increasing infill density or increasing the urban tree canopy. BOTH are not only possible, but absolutely necessary. Good design is the key. The real design challenge isn’t building density or the space needed for trees… it’s the space we still surrender to cars.
Australia has been a world leader in dumb legislation since forever
Systematic change is needed on this issue.
But this also highlights why it's so important for those of us who are both YIMBYs and own an apartment or house to argue in favour of building more housing. Sitting on the sidelines helps the NIMBYs, and I have no interest in that

"A tax on inheritance is double taxation."
No it's not. The person who earned the money gets taxed, and then the person who "earns" the money through inheritance should also be taxed on their "earnings".
And she's asking for something way weaker than an inheritance tax.
