Madison Plan Commission tonight. We'll get to the "Master Hall" demolition, but first they approved amplified sound/outdoor seating request/resturant for the old Funk Factory at 1602 Gilson, a new hipster cafe. Staff backed them down to Amp sound Sat. only until 8pm. Alder Evers supports.

Idk everything going on in Middleton but I've met Lisa a few times at county events and she's smart and well liked in the city. She's also put in a lot of work ahead of the campaign in blogs and engagement

I wonder when electric cars are the most common cars and E15 stops creating a market for farmer if we'll start mandating 15% of water must be ethanol, for the farmers

The Great American Condo Crisis If the U.S. wants to remain a nation of homeowners, it has no choice but to start building condos again.

The US built condos for 50 years, then just... quit? 🤨

Other countries (and more than a few US states!) are showing that our condo crisis is a policy choice. We can do better.

Looked it up and my understanding is the GeschossFläche includes total wall-to-wall space, including the commercial areas, but NutzFläche just includes residential space. Is that why the ratio seems so off?

THREAD: Cherise Doyley was in her 12th hour of contractions at the hospital when a tablet was brought to her bedside.

On the screen was a Zoom call with a judge and several lawyers and doctors.

She was in court, a nurse told her. The reason? For failing to agree to a C-section.

With regard to builders' architecture the money is generally spent on useless ornament, hideous cornices, and plaster work that had far better be omitted. Flats taken as a whole are a modern development of street architecture that has done little to advance the art. Luckily there are a few exceptions, as some illustrations in this book may prove.

An image capturing a quote from the book in the parent tweet, which reads: Builders' Architecture.—The architecture of flats in London, speaking broadly and mildly, is not good, and people frequently remark, "How is it that when so many charming private houses are built, flats are so hideous?" One reason is that the outlay is cut down as much as possible, and there are other reasons. In most cases flats are built by speculating builders, who have their own ideas and carry them out.

CAL FIRE report about single-stair is out. It recommends just one additional story (four stories) be considered now, and notes "near unanimous" opposition by fire departments surveyed. 34c031f8-c9fd-4018-8c5a-4159cdff6b0d-cdn-endpoint.azureedge.net/-/media/calf...
