I live at about 100 m above sea level in upstate New York and winters are harsh there. Can only imagine what it's like where you are. π I've only been to Oregon once for business trip in Eugene. Totally not the same. I'll add your suggestion to my list of places to visit and bring a telescope.
@saavikford.bsky.social I met a former student (I think?) of yours yesterday at the VLA, Signe.
Was talking to her about the Star River podcast and said she should listen to your episode, and she got really excited when she heard your name. She may be a guest, too! ποΈππ¦

All the precious metals in the Cosmos, like gold and silver, are forged in supernovae and neutron star mergers, where intense heat and pressure drive the r-process, rapidly capturing neutrons to form heavy elements. If it sparkles, it's starstuff.
Ummm pattern? (He said in a very friendly voice)

I do get that it's possible that my sentence structure sucks. Maybe I should consider rewriting that post.

Even if you're using a One-Shot Color camera, you can still use narrowband filters to block light you don't want. Check out https://shorturl.at/tnd7r for a huge selection of special purpose filters for solar, lunar, light pollution, and more!
Thanks! It's not too late to get on my schedule! π
I spent time in southern Arizona and Northern Arizona but never in New Mexico. I may have to quit my day job and move here.
All that is true, I'm not exactly sure what that is in response to?
Life Hack: Observing the same stars ancient civilizations studied connects you to humanity's shared history. Two million years ago, the stars all looked different though. But they were (mostly) still there.

I'm not a woman or a physician, but the position and spread of her fingers really looks like a defensive reflex and a "get away from me" vibe to me.
The #Moon's surface is covered in fine, glassy dust caused by billions of years of impacts. In the next 10 years, there's a 95% chance that every man that has walked on the Moon so far will be dead.
I tell my wife I love her from the market 5 miles away practical every day. If my daily commute involved the Moon, I'm sure I'd do the same.

Life Hack: Tracking the phases of the Moon or following planetary transits encourages discipline and focus on long-term goals. It also drives home how little time we have in this life so make the most of it!
Did you know that spacesuit helmets have a Velcro patch, to help astronauts itch? That's its one and only purpose.
To New Mexico, go I.
Yeah, and the Astro and science community here is orders ofagnitide larger than anywhere else these days. The fragmentation of social media means we'll all end up in silos and echo chambers, eventually.
