In a classic example of a solution in search of a problem, the SAVE America Act is purportedly about preventing voting fraud, a phenomenon that the conservative Heritage Foundation’s own database said has happened in just 0.000008% of cases between 1985 and 2025, or 1,620 of 1.3 billion votes cast in presidential elections over that period, The New York Times reported.

"The president’s attempt to prevent registered voters from receiving ballots is unconstitutional and unfair to voters... Elected officials should be doing everything to protect the constitutional rights of [WA] voters, not making it harder." - @stevehobbs.bsky.social
SOS Steve Hobbs is working hard to protect WA voters and secure our elections. We’ll keep fighting to defend our democracy, protect voter privacy, and ensure every eligible Washingtonian can vote without fear.
The President has no authority over elections; the U.S. Constitution grants that authority exclusively to states and Congress. This order would jeopardize citizens’ lawful right to vote. We are reviewing the order and will take any necessary action to protect Washington’s elections.
The SAVE America Act is anti-women. This harmful bill would make it harder for married women & others who changed their name to vote by requiring more paperwork.
Thank you for the warm welcome tonight, Jefferson County Democrats!
My office is committed to protecting voter information so Washingtonians can remain confident in the security and accuracy of our election systems. Passage of this bill is another positive step toward ensuring we keep it that way.

“We would expect the [DOJ] to know how to properly file a lawsuit in federal court. We would also expect them to follow official procedures… considering the important nature of voter data.” - Sec. @stevehobbs.bsky.social

The image features Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs standing next to a quote that reads, "My office is committed to protecting voter information so Washingtonians can remain confident in the security and accuracy of our election systems."
Today, Senate Bill 5892, which strengthens protections on Washingtonians' private voter information, went into effect.
This legislation ensures that confidential information in the voter database is safe from illegal federal overreach.

Renovations are underway at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center State Library branch as WA State Library and @doc.wa.gov prepare to reopen the space for the first time in six years. Read the full news release: https://bit.ly/4c2xUPU

Sec. @stevehobbs.bsky.social: "The SAVE Act doesn't save anything."
🚨 WA Sec. @stevehobbs.bsky.social estimates that the SAVE Act would raise the state’s 2026 midterm costs by $35–$40 million, with the 39 counties facing millions more each year to keep up with paperwork demands - all without federal support. Say no to the SAVE Act.

NEW: Nine Democratic Secretaries of State - Stephanie Thomas, Alexi Giannoulias, Steve Simon, Jena Griswold, Shenna Bellows, Gregg Amore, Maggie Toulouse Oliver, Tobias Read, and Steve Hobbs - signed a letter asking DHS to confirm that ICE won't be deployed at polling locations in the 2026 midterms.
That's one heck of a "no comment" 🤐

"Hobbs said if the Trump administration is serious about making U.S. elections secure, it should restore funding and other support for state election officials it has cut, including at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency..."

The DOJ attempted to file a legal complaint against me in December demanding protected voter information but failed to correctly serve the state. When the DOJ can't even perform basic legal actions correctly, it further erodes my confidence that our voters' protected data will be handled with care.
Ahead of the #StateOfTheUnion last night, Sec. @stevehobbs.bsky.social spoke out against the SAVE America Act, highlighting how it creates sweeping barriers to voting - while ignoring real election security threats like cyberattacks and foreign disinformation.
Secretary Hobbs joined Senator Cantwell as her guest for the @democrats.senate.gov #SOTU press conference ahead of tonight's State of the Union address. Did you miss the live stream? Watch a recap here: https://www.youtube.com/live/9876yIiZgmc
"Cantwell said she and Hobbs would seek out opportunities Tuesday evening to bring Republicans to their side of the [SAVE Act] issue.
“He and I got a busy night tonight,” she said. “We gotta go buttonhole a bunch of Republican senators.”

“What are (they) going to do with the data? [...] We have asked [...] Assistant Attorney General (Harmeet) Dhillon, and she has not given us the reason why [...] but we’re not going to give up the data,” Hobbs said. https://bit.ly/40xfPCQ
I appreciate how much @stevehobbs.bsky.social and Washington State try to support the tabletop industry! And I take a moment to chat with him at PAX every year. Gotta support the reps who support us!
The image is of several legislators and staff learning to play Pathfinder Monster Match! from our very own Joe Pasini! The new game Spellfinder is also on the table, and in the bottom right corner of the image is the "Paizo" logo.
