Double page drawing of the Amoco Cadiz sinking.
I remember going to Ploudalmézeau a few years ago and reading for the first time this story on the memorial site. Unfortunately I don't have any picture of it.
Pages of the Bleu Pétrole graphic novel.
The drawings are beautiful, and the story focuses on the family of the Ploudalmézeau's mayor at the time. Together with mayors and inhabitants of the region, he thought against the company. The story is quite intimate, we can feel how moved the people are by this disaster.
Finally read this graphic novel "Bleu Pétrole" by Morizur and Montgermon. It tells the story of the sinking of the the oil tanker Amoco Cadiz in Britannian waters, which resulted in one of the biggest oil spill ever.
Part of St Étienne mining museum thread
Last picture - slag heaps in the 1950s.
"the Couriot's slag heaps dominate with their strange shape all the city"

It was very interesting for me, to collect data on museums and extractivist practices, but even more for my education as a local. I grew up in Lyon, 35 minutes drive from St Étienne, but there we learn everything about the silk industry and not about coal. Felt like I needed more regional history
Miner's equipment hanged from the ceiling, with the help of a basket
Focus on the chains attached to the benches
The miner's bath is an impressive room, with the equipment suspended from the ceiling. 1500 workers were using it
Slag heaps in the background of the industry buildings, with a very cuve for water extracted from the ground
Slag heaps create a particular landscape around the city, the coal industry has been very important to the region. It opened in the mid-19th century when the railways were connected to the city. The mine stopped in 1973 and transformed in a museum 20 years later
Picture of the Puits Couriot, with the elevator iron structure
Visit to the Puits Couriots, one of the former mining industrial site of St Étienne (South East of France, near Lyon). It is now a mining museum, where most of the visit consists in going in the 7 meters depth visitor mine, constructed only for visitors. We also walk through the old industry buildings

5 countries, lots of kilometers and I'm finally home
I now have 2 600 kms of train to come back to France. May my trains be more reliable than the Olso-Stavanger route.
🎬 Clap de fin
This is the end of two very interesting and busy weeks in Stavanger. As always, I hope to be back soon, to see the mountains, the Fjords, friends and of course, the new exhibits in the Oljemuseum

🎂 10 ans !
I have just participated to the first Energy Heritage reading group organized by @camillemarys.bsky.social, specially enjoyed the creative time on the "blob" described in Oil People. I'm looking forward for the next session!
