Should have said “… big argument about buying Mac back then was that…”

I know I remember a time when the big argument about buying anything back was just that it was so expensive and not worth it.

The teeter totter has come down on the other side.

I am saying that. But what I’m also saying is that if I attempt to find anything for Linux in even somewhat the same range (specs), it is substantially more expensive. So I’m not even trying to compare apples to apples. I’m just trying to compare Mac to “good enough” Linux.

Yup. For years. Anything in particular you’re looking to understand?

It's crazy. Cost to performance, I cant even come close with a Linux laptop to a Mac.

I'm missing something. Anyone using git-crypt with git worktrees? I keep getting smudging errors when I try to unlock it. Any tips? #git #gitcrypt

I do find it funny that we’re essentially MST (utc-7) now but still called PST.

Pretty deep in the iOS ecosystem for mobile/watch. (No Mac). My contract is up and I can buy out my iPhone 15 pro max for $470. Or a can look for a budget alternative that's non iOS. But I don't really want to downgrade. Suggestion? #android #ios

Likely just stick with it as I'm tired of financing

Let me put it this way. I installed it, and almost immediately I knew I was likely moving to it.

It blows my mind that if you subscribe to another service like Crave, and you are watching Crave through the prime app, you still get ads. 🤯

I have tried sublime a few times and even with the speed increase I could never leave vscode. There is also the factor in if the experience jives with your brain. Zed does for me.

I find it much faster than vscode. But that’s not necessarily saying much. Feels snappy. The features are killer, etc. I’m running it on Linux (if relevant to you).

Zed editor has gotten really good. Supports helix modal editing (my term editor), the remote ssh editing just works on NixOs (vscode was a pain). I have matched my vscode (plugins, etc), ble to set the vscode shortcuts from a dropdown is icing on the cake. My era of vscode might be ending.

In case others come across. ended up using voxtalk. On my laptop without a gpu you wait a second for sure. On my tower with a gpu it’s near instant. Always a few minor edits.

(Driven my local ai transcription)

I wonder what the old school products used pre ai.

So I ended up without surgery. It’s not a regular broken clavicle. It’s a distal break which is apparently better. I’ve already been doing physio for a week.

Does anyone know of a way to set notifications for certain #Gmail labels only? And I don't have an android device available to me. I'm only using the web interface. #google #gsuite #googleworkspaces #productivity

I highly advise against sneezing with a broken clavicle.

Clarification, not just you. Is seemingly more dead in certain ways.

Keep hoping to find local that’s good enough/fast enough. I still haven’t found anything close to a codex/claude cli.

My fav is to make tutorials on topics, building towards an outcome that’s interesting to me. It’s a no big deal if it’s not 100% as I can use the tshoot as a learning exercise.

But to be fair, my desired use is to learn about technology and interact with others on technology.

But with the state of the world that stuff kind of gets buried.

People are just having to deal too much BS in this day and age.

Nope. I’m finding it both here and mastodon.

To be honest, a lot of my content discovery is going back to RSS. And I find that the streams over here are just kind of becoming noise.

Which is really too bad.

Just a heads up, I tried to join; and then when applying the code it told me to wait a minute before trying again. Then errored out saying the code was invalid. I then went to add my email a second time, then it said I joined successfully without asking for a code. I “think” I got onto it.

I see a surgeon on Tuesday. And I’m actually gonna push for surgery for that exact reason. I’ve heard that it can speed up recovery and you have better results long-term.
